Hey Timo,

I'm most terribly sorry if I caused you offence with that statement, truly.

Saying that no-one in a leadership position should ever forget that they are essentially in service wasn't meant to suggest you had already forgotten.

I'll continue in a PM as I was trying to let this thread go now that I am able feel more secure about the future of KA (fine job of that I was doing eh!?!)

Joyce, I came here in November 2001, and like you, it kills me to see what's been going on this past week or so. We all suffer physically so very much that when we hurt one another emotionally it seems so unnecessary. Hurts that much more, you know?

I think we will move forward from this a better and stronger support group and family.

Love and hugs,

Kat

I didn't have the privilige of participating in the original AS Web with Brian. I first came along in July 2001 when KA had already been taken over by Pete and the forums had a black screen with brightly coloured usernames. Pete made me picture administrator because I knew how to edit photos for avatars and then he endowed me with the Chief Admin post. However, he was always there in the background steering the direction (and that's what made me think the new owner would also be the new helmsman).

I think the general re-registation came about when we moved away from the black screen a year or 2 later, but we've still got our original registration dates.

GROWING PAINS!

Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Hebrews 12:12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

Hebrews 12:13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Hey, Loz:

I know Your post was more directed at me than anyone else, but I have stated before that, when I post it is not in the capacity of administrator.

We are stuck with these labels, but they should not intimidate anyone--everyone should be allowed their opinions as long as they are reasonably polite (and I will even admit to being borderline on that last issue at times when I have been attacked!).

Most of the Administrators and Moderators do not share my specific views, and even if and when they do, I suspect they would not state them exactly the way I do.

We all have been affected by AS, and there is not one person here I do not care about. I only donated a little (read: Money is not everything), compared with others like mig and Timo (and no disrespect to every Moderator or Administrator past and present--they are each an important part of KA), to keep this site going. It has very little to do with me--I'm just a member.

Just a lesson for everyone--beneath our labels we are civilians and no better than anyone else. When we post, it is important to discern whether we are posting in an official capacity or not. I have only once posted a warning within a thread that was getting too political; this was not my opinion alone.

Best to You,
John

Possi, Yes I was born and raised here, made a few forays away but always drifted back. When I knew I just had a few more yrs. left in the workforce, I twisted some arms in the oil co. I worked for and got transferred back here. I used to try to keep watch and have seen as high as six of us Okies actively posting in the same time period.

Loz, you may very well be right, I just had it in my head that there was one event where everyone lost their original registration date. I remember when Tony put up the black background and all the colors, I was pretty green on the computer then and running Windows 98, I think I found a setting where I could turn that off and read with a white background. I know I lurked for a long time, before I got up the courage to post once in a while, so that could be my first date.

I have a question about the NPO status.

I've been around just about as long as anyone has, although quietly lurking the past number of years. I know Pete, Becky, a handful of others whose names escape me this morning explored NPO status back in the late 90s. I recall it falling to the wayside then.

Over the years I have lost track of whatever became of that, whether KickAS ever became a non-profit.

I do however know a great deal about seeking out resources for NPOs, particularly funding and grant writing. If the site is in need of financial resources there are places to look, and I might be able to get some of the process started - handing it along to other who are far more in the loop than I would ever claim to be.

I may be out of sight out of mind, and people are scratching their noggins wonder who the hell this lilkitty is and why the hell she is butting her nose in business that seemingly isn't hers. It is. I started on this site in 97-98? I help with the editing of the old kickas site, shortly after it was switched from ASweb. This place was my lifeline throughout the late 90s when I struggled so much with my own journey and AS.

I digress, I would be keenly interested in assisting looking for outside funding and NPO status (if it hasn't been granted as of yet) This site is important to the 1000s of people who have sought out support and have more importantly, received it here.
