A point of view I had not considered--I just never want people to feel any obligation, especially to me (because I am attacked so often, I suppose) and I feel uncomfortable (and unused to) being in a spotlight in any positive way (LOL).
Thank You, and I am sorry if my not being direct has created any doubts for You or others here.
Point about button received.
It will certainly be easier to just ask for donations when needed, instead of writing a book or waiting around for members to donate.

John, regardless of how people react to your posts, don't under-estimate the value of letting us know what's going on. Like Dean and probably many others, I didn't realize we were low on funds, so never thought to click on the Donate button. And I certainly didn't know that you had taken on the financing of our beloved KA alone. For that I am very grateful, as like a lot of others here, I would be lost without this place. Thank you. So, next time we get close to running out, you admin types are going to let us know, right?  Warm hugs,

Dear Johm,
Thank you for coming out and declaring your true intentions for KA. I wish you'd been this transparent earlier (and I really hope you feel the same way about that) but the perceived crisis is now passed as far a I'm concerned.
Obviously I hope you will live by your promises, and equally obviously I/we have to trust you to do so.
You know by now that Admin is a tricky job sometimes, so all the best to you in your efforts to please all the people all the time.... OK, I reaslise that's not possible, but one hopes you'll be even handed at least. It is after all, and as you now say yourself, a member driven site.

Loz, most of what John reiterated above was revealed very early on in this mess. Either you and others accidentally missed it, or just read a few inflammatory posts and jumped in feet first. I am glad you are now informed, and I think it would be a good idea for John to cut and paste that explanation and post it as a non posting sticky for a while.

Most? Maybe, but not all and not convincingly. In any case, this fuss was about far more than the book. I'm sorry you think the trouble was unnecessary, I disgree completely. Importnant lessons have been learned on all sides.
Leadership and authority are essentially about service, and no-one in red or green should ever forget that.
This was said with great respect to you J.R. - Did you know you and I joined KA within two months of each other, nine long years ago?

Loz, I did not say it was totally unnecessary, I agree things needed to be hashed out, I just think it could and should have been done in a little milder kinder manner. I also stand by my statement that most of what came out in Johns post had already been revealed, but that is water under the bridge anyway. Glad things are smoothing out. I know I don't post a lot, but I lurked even back when it was Brian's Asweb board,and there was probably less than a dozen posters . I knew we both had been here a long time, but I had not counted the yrs. Was 01 the yr. of a total re-register for everyone because of a software change, don't remember for sure? I meant no disrespect to you either, and appreciate all the hard work you did on the board back then. Although I am not sure I will ever completely forgive you for the "Lord Ruse". I hope we can all continue to get along.

I see you came in 09/01. I came a year later. It just kills me to see the friction. I have made so many dear friends here. I have had visitors from many places and talk on the phone to some wonderful friends internationally. I am so glad it seems to be calming down.

You, of all people, should know how much we put (and continue to put) into this site because you worked yourself to the bone so I'm confused about the above sentence!
