If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I'm sorry for having allowed this thread to continue at the obvious risk of upsetting members and distracting everyone from the purpose of this site - which is member to member support - but left this open for people to air their concerns, positive or negative -- since being (falsely) accused of bias. Just as Timo said of himself - I too would never have stayed on in Admin, nor indeed ever have taken on the role and responsibilities of KA in the first place if I thought KA was only a site for nsd. It is not! We have tried hard to find a balance and that makes EVERYONE feel welcome on KA, and even those who are unwilling to abide by the R&R's are given multiple chances. As for adding medical studies abstracts and journal articles within the sidebar, we are not at liberty to publish anything copied from emedicine, PubMed or any where else without the authors full permissions. KA does have permission for what is published. It is that simple. It is not some great conspiracy. I have personally asked 2 Rheumatologists if they would write something specifically for KA but have had no takers yet. No surprise, these docs are busy with their own work! We've aimed to have the membership as well represented within the make-up of the team as we could do and try to interfere with content as little as possible. The content is and has always been member-driven. Everything that Wendy wrote is true. We can't possibly please everyone all of the time, but it is not for a lack of trying or honest effort. I am sorry if KA has failed to meet the needs, ideals or vision for how each individual personally feels the site should be administered but I have done my best, as has every volunteer member of the admin and mod team and everyday we try to keep the peace and work on making KA as good as it can be for everybody. I do not ostracise anyone due to their views or beliefs -- but no one will be permitted to damage this site by acting in a mean-spirited or disrespectful manner. Lastly, the link posted by tiredofpain to ZoomInfo company profile is incorrect. I have no power over what another website states! Sincerely, mig

I'm sorry Mig but I don't believe you.
Perhaps it is possible that you are amongst the innocent victims duped by John and Dr. Ebringer but I cannot bring myself to accept that the Chief Administrator and such a long time member as yourself could not know of the facts I have been trying to get out to our members.
Saying that the link I posted proving that Dr. Ebringer has administrative access to this site, is nothing but some hoax an anonymous person wrote is just too trite and convenient. Perhaps you are suggesting that I made up that webpage? Nothing would surprise me at this point.
Maybe you can explain why Dr. Ebringer himself has come forward to respectfully request our submissions only now, after I have made great efforts to make his involvement public? How far along is the KA Book Project? Were you going to ever ask us for our permission or would you simply point out there is some disclaimer hidden somewhere in the site that robs us of our choice to choose whether or not to participate in this project?
Lastly, I will point out that I am not being rude - I am upset. Everything I have written can be verified and I assure you, it has been documented.
Oh, and by the way, whether it is you or not, someone with administrative authority is actively censoring the posts and deleting everything I write.
I think I'll let our members decide who is being honest and who actually has their best interests at heart. Feel free to ban me but you will not silence me.
I will not let you get away with this.

well I am not sure of the motives of the postings or if I agree with tired in that respect but there is a reason why John often gets in battles here and on the SAA board. Yet he always blames others rather than looks inward. He seems to be the one common ingredient in both places. Frankly his style of posting and overall attitude that comes across in his postings just rubs people the wrong way for a variety of reasons. I do think some of it may be the nature of a message board but not all of it. I frankly disagree with much of what he posts but such is life.
I do feel many come to Kickas and see it a platform for the NSD diet. If you read carefully it appears there are just as many on here for whom the diet has failed to work or who are not interested in trying it as there are for those it is successful for. I feel newbies often miss this.
I do know I have no interest in my posts being included in any book or supporting any health claims.

You will not let who get away with what? There isn't anything to get away with, sheesh, get real. John is the owner, on paper, and Dr Ebringer has nothing to do with the site in an administrative capacity. If you don't believe that, too bad but it's the truth. Man, you are finding conspiracies all over the place where none are. Kickas is what kickas is, owned by John and run on a daily basis by the the great volunteer members, moderators and admin. Nothing more. You're wasting everyone's time so stop it.

As a newly diagnosed patient with AS, I came here to learn as much as possible about something I knew nothing about but was causing me pain and problems in every aspect of my life. That first thing I read was a comment from John saying how great that the NS diet was. It sounded to me as if he was talking down to the readers who came for information. I felt put down. I know that there are so many snake oil cures for any condition that causes people pain. That's what John's comments sounded like to me-snake oil. I am one of the lucky people who went on to read many of the other posts and I learned how caring and supporting this messageboard can be. I have learned a lot here. I am now trying to understand why it took 50 years to get a Dx. Why, after seeing two Rheumys who said I had nothing inflammatory, it was my sweet old GP who figured it out. I have been seeing a new rheumy and he plans to put me on Humira. I am waiting for all the test, x-rays and insurance problems I know are coming. The people here have given me hope. I just hate to see that others might turn away because of one person who is overbearing. Somehow, John just need to learn to be a good boy. Be nice to people. Donna

I think I have read this before... but... Doesn't "fasting to death" make anyone else feel uncomfortable about long fasts? Fasting for a few days in one thing, but to literally starve oneself is completely different. I was always told starch was the culprit, not food in general. Has anybody seen some people that went without food for a week, like when a national disaster strikes? They can barely move and look to be semi conscious. I'm already unhealthy, I don't need to loose more energy and more *diagnosed* nutrients by means of starvation. I know someone is going to jump in now and stress the fact that the use of minerals and the use of other stuff was mentioned, but Jesus and Moses, and then people in the medieval times didn't have a GNC to shop at. This is just an opinion of course. Is this supposed to be a new goal or something? I will agree that is amazing to see and hear from people that have actually accomplished these things and benefit from them, but I still think we need to consider everyone's health condition as a whole when we're speaking of fasting for extended lengths, not just the people who are healthy enough to live through it. This is again just an opinion. Anywho, I'm surprised to see this type of post let out of the NSD forum, I mean considering since fasting is considered the first big step in NSD, and also highly recommended in the NSD forum. "You should begin your diet with an Edgar Cayce 3 day apple fast..." There were times where I read it on a daily basis. About David Blane: Jeremy Ward, professor of respiratory cell physiology at Kings College, London, is quoted as saying: “I think he is a complete idiot. There are enough starving people in the world. For someone to starve themself as a publicity stunt - I don't think morally it is something which you should do for glamour or glory or money.” What's wrong with that???, he could make a good career with that. Health or wealth... I would be much better off with either or and much happier either way. Too bad I'll never experience one or the other.

none of us need to argue really do we? shouldnt our aim as members be to help one another achieve a less painful life? From my experience, many more admin dont follow the NSD than do. Isnt kickAS a place designed to help people with AS better deal with the disease? no one is try sell members fruit and veg or miracle cures or even membership fee's (its FREE ladies and gents- FREE!!). We do talk about stuff like this fasting as well as FOOD, drinks, drugs, supplements, alternatives, DR's, PT's, Rhuemies etc etc its the nature of the site. Can we please get back to fighting AS, not each other???

Just a reminder, I've mentioned it before-
(and this is outside of the current discussion regarding conspiracy theories, "ownership" of KA, and all that)
my mother passed away at age 68, about five days after completing a fast for about a week
I was lucky enough to talk to her on the phone a few days before it happened, I remember how she sounded better than she had in years, better mental focus, her fast had been supervised by a doctor, she was following guidelines that he had given her, including how to carefully end the fast
She wasn't the best of health, but had just made a trip to Antarctica (okay, not like it sounds, it was more of a cruise ship thing, not like she was scuba diving below the ice)
But she did have tickets for a London show the following month, we found that when we went through her things
So take that for what it's worth, maybe just a reason to be careful, maybe more than that-
