The fatigue was always one of the worst symptoms for me. I would get home at night so drained from work that I could barely get up my porch steps. Cooking, cleaning, didn't have it in me to do anything, but since I lived alone I had no choice. If I didn't do it, no-one would.

Dinner in those days would usually be trail mix and fruit or popcorn. Sad, I know.

Cleaning I tended to save until the weekend and then I would do it in shifts. Work for, say, 15 or 20 minutes, rest for half an hour. It would take all day, but the cleaning would get done and I wouldn't be absolutely knackered (just somewhat).

You sound like you really do want to take care of your horse, so perhaps you could do it like that. Make yourself go out there and curry for 10 mintues. Then rest for a bit and then get back at it for another 10 minutes or so.

Sometimes, especially if you're on your own, you just have to suck it in, tough it out and make yourself start something. When I do that (assuming I'm not being idiotic about it) I generally find that the fatigue lifts enough to let me do what I need to do. Especially if I alternate rest periods with the work.

Hope that helps.

Hugs,

Kat

Hi. I am dead tired all the time.
I am quite low with blood platelets, ad I do not get enough oxygen at night. So check on those things, ok?

I have to practice deep breathing, which is tough for us.
I also have to walk every hour, just to kieep from getting drowzy.

We know how you feel, it is in our ehads, because it si very real!

Neil, I don't mind at all. I think you'll find that none of us do. smile

I can imagine how disheartening that is. When I started Remicade all of a sudden I had wells of energy that had never existed before. I would still tire relatively easily, but it was never as debilitating as before Remicade.

Actually, Remicade opened my eyes to just how long AS has been affecting me. I have had more energy during the past five years or so than at any other time in my life, including childhood. I never seemed to have the get up and go other kids had and running was a real chore. I still don't run (because, really, I run like a girl and people laugh at me), but it's been a revelation to me how much energy I do have.

Hugs,

Kat

Hey Ramakentesh,

Welcome to KA. I know what you mean. When I wake up in the AM, I feel more tired then when I went to bed at night. I chalk it off to the pain in my legs that feels a lot like pain you have when you are extremely fatigued. I usually have to be up and about for an hour before I feel more or less human.

Hi Tammy
I feel exactly the same. Don't really have any advice, just some mutual support. I'm really hoping things improve for both of us soon.

I start Humira soon and I'm hoping that I'll have a similar response to others on here. In the mornings I just ache all over, the same in the evenings. Just very tired in the afternoons. In fact, if I do anything remotely active (say a 30 min swim, an hours ride on my motorbike, a couple of hours drive a day, let alone work) I just know I'll be paying for it in the evening and the following day.

Yesterday for example, I had a short swim (cos as you know, it's recommended for us). In the evening I was so tired and in pain I could hardly stand. This morning, I'm was so tired and stiff it took me three times longer than normal to get moving.

Take care, Alison xx

hey Tammy, I know exactly how you feel. I'm 21 and I feel horrible when I can't do things with my friends. some days I'm in so much pain I can't thing straight. I can barley get out of bed in the morning, thankfully school is now out of the summer and unless I have a dr appointment or something I don't have to rush getting up and getting ready. and my poor dog looks at me with these sad eyes begging to go on a walk and I just can't do it. i just feel so guilty when I can't please him I feel like a bad mama. frown hope you are feeling better soon! (and me too lol)

Take care of yourself, you are not alone Tammy. I find myself trying to sleep half of the day, but of course that just cause more problems. Not to mention the fact that I can't sleep more then a few hours without waking in some sort of discomfort. Please do not feel guilty, it will pass and you will find what works for you. I know it is hard to be patient, but think positive.

Peace
