If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

You need to follow the "London AS diet" - just looked at "AS food guide" and agree with others - this is not a no starch diet.
Also, although recommendations are to reduce bad foods - you may find you need to eliminate these foods to begin with if you are not getting a significant improvement.
Some foods are not mentioned in addition to this, so iodine testing is essential eg. root ginger, kidney beans, baked beans, chick peas etc are all starchy as are many processed and ready made foods eg. tinned tomatos and tomato puree.
You should be able to make all sorts of cakes, muffins and treats for your husband with coconut flour.
KickAS and help others do the same!

Hi there,
Protein should not be an issue with this diet. I eat a lot of walnuts with raisons as a snack. Added benefit of a lot of fiber.
First several years I did not eat dairy or chocolate, I was very strict on diet. Now I eat chocolate and ice cream without end. I am not as sensitive when I cheat on diet.
I miss Stoneyfield Farms French Vanilla yogurt from States.. this with fresh/frozen blueberries was like heaven for me.

Chelsea,
Life is good again!!! I am pretending to have you as my teacher/mentor in my kitchen. I found some coconut flour at a natural foods store this afternoon. Brownies are in the oven right now. They smell so good. I can't wait for Marty to come in from chores!!!!!! The kids are coming into the kitchen one by one sniffing the air. I wish I could give you a hug.

Hey Jeanne....that's awesome! Marty's going to love you forever now, hehehe.
One word of caution though....just be careful not to replace the starch in Marty's diet with too much refined white sugar. It's not healthy for anyone (even the average Joe walking down the street who doesn't have AS). With AS, some people can get troubles with candida also and trust me, you DO NOT want Marty on the candida diet. It's crazy restrictive (and you thought the NSD was!)...you can't even have fruit!
So these coconut flour treats are just that...treats! Altho at least coconut flour has a lot of goodness and also fibre in it unlike baking with white wheat flour, still the recipes do have sugar.
All the best to you and Marty

Oh yes, I remember the yeast diet. I was on that one many years ago. Fond memories. Thanks for the caution.
