If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

The dr. just called and said that I have to get on iron supplements and if hasn't come up a lot by the time I go back, we will have to do IV iron. My iron serum level is 33 and should be between 50+ - 130+. He said it was WAY too low. He got the number of the gastro to talk to him about my last colonoscopy. I am having vertigo so bad and am having trouble getting my thinking straight. He said the low iron will cause those plus my heart arrythmia and cold extremities. I am starting iron supplements this afternoon and they will be watching it. I have had vasculitis of the intestines in the past and got very anemic. They are very thin from so many steroids. I had a tear 2 weeks ago that made me lose A LOT of blood so that is probably the reason it so low. He said "Don't you worry about this. We will get to the bottom of it." Pun intended? I really didn't need this with our company starting to come in next Wed. An entire rest of Dec with company and wedding and celebrating birthdays and Christmas! Then hubby is having his knee replacement replaced. I need to get some strength back. Going to go take a swig of "unsulphured" Black Strap Molasses. I will be lifting weights by tomorrow night. Just had to tell someone. Don't think I am really complaining. Just don't want to have to deal with it right now. But then I remember my Mother saying "Do you always get what you want?" I know the answer well by now. Hope you have a great day. Hugs and Blessings. Possi

Poor dear. Iron of 33....no wonder you are tired, etc. I recommend SloFE. Lots easier on the tummy and intestines. No constipation, either. Hope it works.

(phone rang as I typed the previous and I reflexively <submit>ed when I hadn't finished)
Prayers that you feel better quickly for all you have coming up, but don't be slow at asking for help for things that other people can do. You have to be at DH knee replacement, but having your company helping out a bit, local relatives/friends helping out some will mean you will have more reserves to help your hubby. Did that make sense?? Hugs to you. Wait till you get a couple of doses of that molasses before weightlifting.

Hello my dear, what a December you have ahead of you!! Good grief, I'm tired just thinking of it!
I used Slo-Fe as well. It's very good. I hope you feel better on whatever iron you end up taking.
Mmmmm Black Strap Molasses. I love molasses. Used to put it in baked beans and on pancakes (especially good on buckwheat crepes).
Feel better soon, OK?
Love and hugs,
Kat

Oh dear Possi - just what you *don't* need in the lead up to the busy festive season! It looks as if you'll have to start indulging yourself early, with oysters and champagne for breakfast, chicken liver pate and champagne for lunch and fillet mignon with a raw spinach salad - and more champagne - for dinner! Of course, the champagne does NOT contain any iron, but if one is obliged to eat oysters, chicken livers and prime beef fillet, it only seems right... By far the best way to increase your iron intake is through diet, but when it's a low a yours, you might need to kick start the recovery with an oral supplement. As you know, a big iron load can be hard on the gut and leave you constipated - so eat a big side order of that raw spinach salad with your iron pill! The other 'pill' option that some swear by is chlorophyll tablets, although you need to be aware that iron from plant sources comes in a less bio-available form than iron from animal proteins. So, get stuck into those steaks! Here's a few other ideas for when you tire of the gourmet existence: http://dietary-supplements.info.nih.gov/factsheets/iron.asp Hope you are feeling more invigorated quickly! Louise

Oh Possi - that's too bad - the last thing you need right now. However, on the positive side, is that this may be one reason that you've been so tired and having such a hard time. Taking an iron supplement may give you the energy you need to get through these busy few weeks. That is my hope.
