If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hey Rumble, It seems that our sinus commiserate. I am waking up every few minutes cause I can't breath, then the mask seems to be smothering me rather than helping me... antibiotics just seems to cause osmething else to go wrong. so I stay the same thorugh the winter, not bad enough to get a prescript, but not any fun at all. My best to you.. Lon

Wendy, You and Rumbel and others can just think aobut this short thick grey bearded man out there scooping snow. Jacket open because he is sweating, 4-wheel truckes goes by honking. Thick winter gloves, trying not to get a painful neck... well anyway, try to smile - we care..

Ended up on Augmentin (combo of amoxicillin and clavulanate) for stubborn sinus and/or respiratory tract infections. With chronic issues, I've taken this drug many times and it works well. The gunk will start draining in 24-72 hrs and the pressure will ease up.
Have to stop mtx while I take it because of the amoxicillin. Not looking forward to that since I know mtx is working. Hope the good response comes back after this 2 week break.

Lon, hugs to you. You really need to try the saline irrigation. 1/4 tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water. You don't strike me as a neti pot sort of guy. If you can get to walgreens or something similar, they may have the NeilMed version. Or you can get one of the saline sprays and reuse the bottle (fill it up yourself with homemade saline). sinus irrigation kit Careful on the ice!

I am also wondering if the Dr. will prescribe somthing for my c-pap machine?? Once again today I would sufficate if I had to breath out my nose.... Thanks my friend.

I use a Neti pot every day and it really helps but it has gotten my neck all in a mess from bending and having to turn your head a little. I am going back for the spray one. The pharmacist told me it works best anyway.
Lon, you be careful out there shoveling snow. Our ice didn't amount to much but we are supposed to get very cold in 3-4 hours. I dread that with strong wind from the North.
Blessings. Possi

Hey Possi, I just found at a local store here that there is a new form of 'netti pot' on the market... where you hold your head straight and squirt the water up your nose and nothing gets sucked back into the bottle. My 8 yo needs this done every night and it was horrible trying to get her head in the right position. The funny thing is the first time we tried this new bottle, we were shocked to see the water come shooting out her other side! LOL! It grossed out the boys, big time! LOL!

Wow - that sounds much easier than the other kinds. Is there a brand name to ask for?

Well, it's been 5 days on antibiotics. Started Monday and felt a little better Tuesday, then a little bit better Wednesday. Thursday started okay but went downhill. Went to work for 3 hrs and came home. Still running occasional fever up to 99. Stayed home Friday because I have a lot of sick time built up and didn't feel good anyway. Guess I'll call doc back on Monday if it doesn't get better. Grrrrr.

The sinus infection is back...can't really say if it's the old one or a new one. Just feel yukky and my eyes feel like they will explode out of the sockets from pressure behind them. Nasal saline washings are still producing green/tan/bloody mucus. A new and exciting antibiotic starts today...Ceftin. And doc told me if I'm not radically better at the end of the 2 weeks, he will refill it! I think that no matter how I feel, I will get the refill....it would be 2 more weeks that I might not catch something else that's going around. On the good side, I don't have to stop methotrexate while taking this one! People come to work sick...one has mycoplasma pneumonia, but on antibiotics after being sick for a month. One has strep. Argghhhh. That's just in the chemistry section....there are probably others skulking around in other departments in the lab. Very frustrating. I'd rather work shorthanded than worry about catching something from a coworker. It's 13 degrees outside, with windchill below zero. This is the best it's going to be for the next 3 days. At least it's sunny and the roads are dry (except for the mounds of snow pushed to the sides left from the blizzard on Christmas eve). For you dudes and dudettes up in Montana, New York, Canada, etc...condolences. Cold weather sucks, big time.
