Cool! Thanks for digging this post up! I agree that this appears to be a very cost effective alternative to probiotics (Natren's Healthy Trinity costs an arm and a leg) so I'm probably going to experiment with one. I think it makes the process a lot easier!

Hey Louise, I'll post it in the recipe forum for ya. It's not amazing but Jon has it every day. Sometimes he spreads margarine and plum jam on top. It's not bad.

Today is my day off, and after reading some of the posts on this topic, I decided to make myself some hotcakes:

Breakfast: almond/coconut flour hotcakes with butter and home made mixed berry jam (& coffee)

Lunch: NSD-style Pad Thai noodles(thanks for the inspiration, Donette) with shirataki noodles that tested *safe* !!!

Dinner: Vietnamese-style pork mini sausages rolled in lettuce with toasted sesame seeds and nuoc cham sauce (fish sauce, garlic, chilli, lemon juice, palm sugar)

Snack: 1/2 a ripe mango and now I'm about to have a square of dark chocolate.

I had bean-free chilli last night Donette - it was soooooo good! The family had white corn tacos, but I just piled chilli, red capsicum, lettuce, a little grated cheddar, homemade guacomole and a splodge of plain Greek yoghurt in a bowl and chowed down! I can't say that I miss the starch-loaded stuff often when I can have a viable alternative... yes

Saturday: Dec 5:

I observed a single day apple fast today. I did not eat too many apples - only 2. I oroginally wanted to do a water fast but gave up.

I also took a bovine colostrum supplement in the evening and ended the fast now with a 2 teaspoons of EV olive oil.

Hope it helps.

Thanks. Of course, the boys loved posing for the picture. :-)

I "cheat" more than I could when I first started the diet, so I may not be a good one to imitate. I don't have iodine to test, but whey and rice protein powder have never bothered me. I put them in the smoothie so I'm not hungry in an hour from just sugars. MSM is the sulfur supplement good for arthritis and many other things. Kombucha tea is sweetened tea cultured for 2 weeks or so. It changes the sugar to amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, etc. You can buy it in the health food store, but it is much cheaper to make your own. You only need to find someone with a culture to share near you.

Hummus is like a bean dip, and def. not low starch. I just have a taste while the rest of my family enjoys. For my salad, I buy Annie's Naturals dressings. They have gluten-free ones and I just use a small amount so it doesn't bother me. Mostly, I like vinegar and oil-type dressings anyway.

Beware the addictive properties of the Organic Food Bar. It has a yellow label so it will jump off the health food store shelves at you. :-)

Hope you can find some fresh veggies. Our little veggie garden looked pretty sad when we had frost this weekend, but I don't think anything died. Planting in August and November is very strange for a Minnesotan, but that is TX!

HTH. Happy cooking!
