Hi Ciara, Can I just mention that some Armour Thyroid users are complaining of a return to hypo symptoms since the 'new' chalky formulation. Its causing problems for alot and is being mentioned on many of the thyroid forums.

I didnt realise just how well Armour was assisting with my AS symptoms and had the worst ever symptoms flare since using 'new' armour.

I picked up some compounded Armour 2 days ago and boy can I tell the difference, feel alot better. I am however grateful that this happened else I would not have been able to get the AS exposed and diagnosed.

Interestingly I have had a LSD for years, and can tell when I have eaten 'white' bread for example or 'chocolate bullets' (yummo)

That's really cool about LDN "helping" the celebrex work . . . I should look into that, because ibuprofen, celebrex, indocin, and any other NSAIDs never seemed to do diddly squat for me my whole life, but recently I took some ibuprofen when I was out of everything else, and it seemed to WORK, and i've taken it several times since then and it's still working. hmmm.

And Donette? Yeah, it was the DIET coke. I tell people I'm allergic to aspartame, I don't think I'm really ALLERGIC, but it sure as heck gives me terrible god-awful headaches, consistently (from even one can of soda) so I use the word "allergic" to keep it at a safe distance. I don't break out in hives or anything, but it DOES make me miserable. So I consider that an allergy. lol. (the stuff is deadly poison anyway . . . I'm sure the makers of aspartame have billions of dollars in lobbyists in congress trying to keep it legal . . . my state very nearly illegalized it a couple of years ago. I was heartbroken when it didn't go through.)

*hugs* and hoping for awesome LDN results for everyone!!!

I finally got $$ for my LDN script and started again last night. I suffered severe brain fog lately & upped my Armour and feel much better.

My pain appears to be lessening.. not sure if it is summertime feel-better or if my body is going into remission. hopefully the 2nd!! My SI & hips are doing good. my thorasics are still cranky, but reduced in intensity. my daily headaches are not so daily anymore!

oh! this is good to know! is the compounded formula covered by insurance, do you know?

I notice that I can't cope with the AS pain as well when my thyroid is out of whack and my pain seems more unbareable.

Hey CC,

I had NOT heard about the stiffness early on with the LDN, thanks for the info. Knowledge is power!!

Yes the LDNNSDLSD is a very exclusive club to be in. I feel cooler just "knowing" what it all means!! lol

So glad your fatigue is lessening, we are grateful for little things and big things. It's amazing the joy that comes from having the daily grind be a little more bearable for us!! Love to hear it.

Insurance covers part of my compounding cost, however I am in Australia, so I dont know how it may work there.

The Batch of Armour I had was 070817 Exp: 12/09 - Should you find you have problems, please contact Forrest Pharmaceuticals in St Louis, Toll Free: 1800 678 1605

I was established on 3Gr for years, but over an almost 3 month period (all but 18 of the tabs) I had increased to 4 1/2 grain, and contemplating going up to 6Gr after bloods PLUS, I had added and slowly increased to 60mcg T3 before someone on a thyroid forum gave the alert -!!!!!!!!!!
Members who found and took some older style soft Armour regained the benefits within 2 days.

Hi Ari,

From reading some of these posts I dont see LDN as a drug that has really worked well for anyone. I hope I'm wrong and it can be used as a drug for AS but I just dont see it right now.

I am certainly getting better results from otc pain meds... and I only need them around 2 times a week. I am not yet a cheerleader for ldn, but I am optimistic, as I believe in the compromised immune system theory. Drizzit is on ldn and just said on another thread;

I am still on LDN and it helps a lot. I can tell when I go off it. However for me it does not take away all my symptoms so I am always snooping around

and Zernike has disappeared since she started (and she was on her way to surpassing Sue22 in terms of number of posts per day)... I think her most recent post is on the first page of this thread.
I promise to update,

Hi Trudi, was discussing how much benefit I believe I have received from AS symptoms as a result of taking Armour Thyroid (old formulation) with my son, and he mentioned that perhaps they use DE (Diatamecous earth) (sp) as a filler which happens to be a PH Buffer................ it could be an important factor. We know that thyroid hormone affects every cell in the body, "what if" the armour is taking this PH buffer into those cells...........hmmmm

I am trying to get my head around starting a specific thread regarding Armour Thyroid and AS as I am pondering the possibility of how many AS sufferers may also be untreated and/or under-treated thyroid sufferers.

Especially with the TSH Thyroid blood test (range) being 'rubbish' leaving so many undiagnosed........

I have so much going thru my head at the moment, but will put something together when I am thinking clearer.

It was the new formula Armour that exposed the AS when the symptoms 'EXPLODED' and compounded armour has tamed those same extreme symptoms within 2 days of taking it. I have also had a LSD for years, which I believe helps.

Also interesting is that I take armour at night after experiments by thyroid patients got good results, now being recommended by some Endos and many get a deeper sleep, better absorption - and would you believe you dream for the first few days when you take armour at night - now doesnt that sound familiar......
Pondering......... pondering............

Hi Ari,

I read a very positive report on LDN from a long term AS patient - I have invited him into this forum and hopefully he will post his story - which is inspiring
