Hi,

Can anyone in Aus can tell me where to get a syringe bin from? My old Rhummy would swap it over, but I'm flying to Adelaide in a couple of weeks - before I see my new Rhummy, and need an empty syringe bin to take with me.

Any ideas? Do the chemists stock them?

Thanks,

James

Hi James,
Yes some pharmacies stock Sharps containers. Also most of the public hospitals do if you are tapped into one of their programs, eg arthritis program. (They will accept full ones in ER but do not hand out new ones). Some Dr' surgeries will also, need to ask the practice nurse and she'll inform you of their procedure.
Although its not as safe, a temporary measure can be to take a plastic container that firmly seals and is waterproof that fit your used syringes. Sometimes this is easier when packing space is at a minimum. Place your used syringes in it and then on return home, tip them into the Sharps container that you ordinarily use.

Hope that helps. Cheers

What she said...lol

In Canada it certainly works this way. I also bring all of my old prescriptions back to them for safe(r) disposal.

Hopefully, all this stuff won't just wind up washing onto a beach someplace...lol

Humira sends me free sharps containers with prepaid shipping to return them when they are full. Other pharmaceutical companies may have a similar program.
