My daughter moved to Baton Rouge shortly after the first two years of tradgedy. But she saw the problems and told me about them. She had a friend there who wanted to go back to the coast, but there was no where to live and no jobs. Because of her being there for two years I had known what was going on. I would have tried to go down there in my previous life, but that is when I got sick. So find out the legal stuff and do what you need to and know that you have lots of support here.

now look here you, the last time i had a sultry moment was in 1972 when heather leatherbarrow borrowed my garden barrow. Hi Alan she said winking and sort of clicking the side of her mouth, which, cavernous in its dimension, gave rise to the vision of a starving komodo dragon with hunger on its mind hence a glutinous drool issued off puttingly from her - wow i thought, i wonder if i will ever get my barrow back................errr

hi michelle well was joshing really and is the best i could come up with in two mins. Would love to see your story.
Thankfully, not many of us could relate such a tale with the benefit of first hand experience........Anyway Heather leather and I never got married, i never got my barrow back i'm told she now works for a whaling company as a decoy......................right Alan time for medications and that very long sleeved jacket

Michelle

Writing a book is a daunting task. My father has written several books and I have written one or two articles for a local paper.

If I were to give advice, it would be to have a specific audience in mind that would be interested in your story Alot of writer's pitfalls are trying to write to show how well they can write instead of making it appealing to their readers. Do an outline first. Read what you have written outloud and have others read it as you go to get a different perspective and to make sure it is clear and without ambiguity.

Good Luck.....now get started!!!!

Michelle,

Sounds to me like you need somehow to get to Brad Pitt...

What do you think he would think about all of this since he is such a humanitarian..I know he is a star but I dont believe he is doing this for the show, I think he truly believes in the plight of the people and I think he must see what is going on also.

This is a story that needs to be told but just be careful you where there is corruption and money there is danger and you have a family that loves you very much. People do not like their dirty little secrets being uncovered and exposed.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help, Bill (my husband) spends some time there and was just at Mardi Gras..if he is down there sometime I would love to fly down there and us spend some time with you and your wonderful family....would love to bring Ella with me but you know..lol

Love u with all your greatness and inspiration!

Hugs,

Lisa

Wow Michelle, that is awesome! I really hope you do write it and I get to read it! I'm so excited for you! I know you can do it. I don't have any experience in writing anything, other than a post on here! Good luck to you and keep us updated.

well, a book is a lot bigger than a journal article or a grant proposal, but i think a few general things are related: making a detailed outline, breaking it down into small more doable tasks, not worrying too much what the rough draft looks like (most writing is mostly editing, at least for me that's true, i probably spend 10% of my time writing and the other 90% of my time editing), and making sure to set aside time every day (be disciplined about it). i know a lot of my tasks seem very overwhelming until i break them down into much more digestible chunks, then its a lot easier to do a large task. and i guess, just starting and just keeping at it. i know a lot of times i look back and am amazed how much i've accomplished, but when i look at it up front before starting, its usually pretty overwhelming if i look at the whole thing.

as for the story itself, others probably gave better advice than i could give, but i'd probably be careful of accusations, true or not, they have to be proven and backed up by facts and even then there might be legal aspects to it all. just be careful, but tell your story, i sounds like you need to.

it also sounds like a very good documentary.......

sounds like some of the topics of michael moore's documentaries......

Spike Lee did a four hour documentary for HBO on Katrina, called "When The Levees Broke" We watched it, in bits and pieces because it was pretty difficult viewing. Oddly, the part that I remember most was the interview with the man who told Cheney to go **** himself.

http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/whentheleveesbroke/

There has been talk that Spike still doesn't feel that he covered the whole story, and wants to do a follow-up documentary.

Maybe you could consider contacting him, Michelle? We've worked with his editor, Sam Pollard.
