This is the best forum online for AS and I'm glad you found it.
I'm sorry you have AS, but it's great you were finally diagnosed. At least now you can be treated for it. I also went through a long time of multiple ailments like yours before someone put it together. I wondered at the time if I was a tad crazy or what on earth was wrong with me. My husband always said I had a gremlin bouncing around inside me. Then when I got my dx, it was like everything fell into place and maybe I was pretty normal after all. At least mentally.....

Hi and welcome to AS-Kick My name is Richard And I live on the West Coast of Florida I have had AS now for a year and suffered a torn and detached retina Due to it. I am on 20 mg of Methotrexate once a week and I am being weaned off of Predisone I have kept a log on my condition , when I hurt, What I eat and I found that weather fronts have a definite effect on My AS I also found that the best thing to do when I am in pain is to take a couple of Tyenol and get out and take some easy walks, then a hot shower when i Get back. My bed has a heated mattress cover which helps a lot. At first my pain was constant but I am getting more and more days being pain free. My last Pain free Stretch was 9 days.. Hi Richard. How long have you been on the Methotrexate? I have been on it for about 2 months now, and I'm not at the highest dose they give for this (don't remember what is was). Has it helped a lot? I do have decreased pain now, but it isn't consistant. The heated mattress cover sounds great, I'll have to find one for myself. Right now I can't sleep in our regular bed because I can't get into a comfortable position. Right now I'm sleeping beside the bed on an air mattress with a memory foam pad. I don't hurt near as much in the mornings when I sleep there.

You are right! The stock market is a bit of a katastrophe. It just dawned on me that we may need an alan wrench to get out of this mess. I'd better go sit on my lon chair and think about it. Maybe send out a possi or a mig fighter jet to solve this mega annoying problem. If that doesn't work, you can sue me!

Dawn I have been on Methotreate for a little more than a year and I believe that I will be on it for the rest of my life. Methotrexate is an anti-Inflamatory drug. I started with 15mg once a week and the Rhummy increased it to 20mg once a week Methotrxate tends to deplete the natural folic acid in your body so make sure that you talk to your doctor about this. Some times when I read the posts from other people about their medical condition , Mine feel so insignificant and my heart goes out to them. Please feel free to email me .
