If you haven't already, that is! I voted last Friday, actually. No bias here folks: No matter who your candidate is, please, please get out and vote in this incredibly important election.

The Detroit media is reporting lines of a mile to a mile and a half long at many poling places this morning--and that is PEOPLE folks, not cars waiting in line! That is just mind-boggling to me, and incredibly inspiring! I think predictions of all turn-out records being shattered today are looking pretty accurate.

Again, doesn't matter if you're voting for McCain or Obama, the important thing is that you vote and your voice is heard!

*And please, I ask any and all who respond to this to follow my lead and keep any bias or comments about any candidate out of your response. I know I took a chance by posting this, but voting is just SO important and one of the most sacred rights of every democracy, perhaps the one I hold most dear to my heart. So many people were not allowed to vote in America for so many years that I feel we all owe it to those past generations to do the right thing and exercise our right to vote in every free election. That said, I won't hesitate to delete my own post if we get any shenanigans y'all! As boxing refs say at the start of every fight, "Keep it clean!"

I can't. And even if I could, I wouldn't vote for either of them.

How do you write rude things on the balllot paper these days when everything is electronic?

'Then you should say what you mean,' the March Hare went on. 'I do,' Alice hastily replied; 'at least - at least I mean what I say - that's the same thing , you know.' 'Not the same thing a bit!' said the Hatter.

Then honestly Bilko, why did you bother writing a reply at all? As you point out, you cannot vote in this election, I asked for folks to keep bias and comments on candidates out of it, and you go ahead and blow that out of the water on the first post. Honestly, what harm does a post encouraging people to vote cause, and what possible good does your post serve? Did it really make you feel THAT good about yourself? When the UK elections are held, would it make you feel better if I put a post up for that election too--I would be very happy to do just that?

I'll give this one more chance then I will simply delete the entire post and be greatly disappointed that I was forced to do so almost immmediately after posting it.

Hey Brad,
I am with you. I'm not moving that great today, but Carol is going to take me down to the polls so I can do my thing.

I guess I look at it this way..If you don't at least cast a vote, then you have no right to complain about how things turn out. So at least add your two cents worth. There are thousands of local and state issues across the country that will have as much of, or a greater impact on your day to day life than which one of the yahoos becomes president. GO VOTE!!

I wish I could vote but I can not. There are many issues facing the greatest nation in the world these days at all levels of governments. Every votes counts so evey1 do your civic duties and vote.

Thanks for the post Brad and I have kept my politics out of it.

Hey, Brad!

You brave soul, I am glad you posted this. Maybe the moderator will remove any naysayers.

I voted early!
We're so excited about this whole thing that we're throwing a party tonight to watch the outcomes. The tension is just about unbearable. And I agree, just get out and vote -- for whomever you please!!

Hooray for freedom - democracy in action!!!!!

Hey Brad,

From a died in the wool political junkie, I have to agree with you Brad, 1000%. GO VOTE! Let's show those brave Iraqi's how it's really done. They had between 60% and 70% of registered voters turn out for their election, and that was in the face of threatened bombings. Certainly we can do at least that. If you know someone who isn't voting, help him or her to the poles. If you can't decide who to vote for for president, no problem, there are many other offices being contested today. JUST DO IT!!!

Thank Brad for giving us this forum to try to move folks.

Dean

Brad,

I live in a small town in Central NC with just over 2,000 in the city limits so we had no early voting. I was in line early this morning and was number 300 to cast my ballot. There was at least another hundred people wating in line when I left. There are two other polling stations for the people who live outside the city limits and there was closed to 200 people standing in line at one of those when I rode by there. Considering most people here have historically waited until after lunch or work to vote I imagine we will have record turn outs this year.

Thanks Zernike! Yep, I'm heading over to watch with friends tonight too. I thought one of my friends put it beautifully when he explained why he took tomorrow off:

"Because if my candidate wins, I'm going to get drunk, and if he loses, I'm going to get REALLY drunk!"

VOTE!

Chris,

Sorry to hear you're moving slowly today, my friend. Glad to hear your lovely wife will help you get out to vote--do not hesitate to ask them to let you move to the front of the line if you are really hurting! At least you've got some terrific weather today to take the edge off getting out (or at least I assume you're getting a taste of this 70 degree fabulousity that we're having!)

Good to hear from you.

Brad
