what are you referring to?

often times Newbies will rephrase their questions repeatedly as though asking it another way is going to get them the answer they want to hear. I feel for them because it seems they're in denial but no matter how many different ways you ask the question, it's not going to change the facts. It is what it is. Usually when that approach doesn't work, I've noticed that some of them will challenge what is being told to them, the use of these tactics won't get you any closer to a solution for your health problems and it will only serve to offend the very people that you are soliciting help from.

hi jenn,

michelle probably doesn't want to call anyone out directly, so i'll share something from me.

there was a time in the beginning when a few people were trying to help me figure out if i had arthritis or not. i was in so much pain, was so frustrated with the rheumies, so frustrated with no one (in the medical community) being able to dx me for 10 years, etc. that when someone here would ask the same questions the doctors did, i think i directed some of that frustration in their direction. they were only trying to help, and i wasn't trying to be difficult. i was just trying to communicate but i don't think it always came off that way. but i apologized and i think i was forgiven. i didn't mean any harm and the people trying to help me certainly didn't mean any harm. sometimes we don't appreciate those tough questions at the time, but later in retrospect, we do.

aloha, molly

ha...ha.

no one can respond to everything...
sometimes i feel i've got nothing to add to what's already been said.

i have posted "DITTO" a couple times, just being sociable...ya know.

there's an old rocknroll song about sending a long letter and getting back a postcard.

i'm 61 now...i started getting heat treatment and steroid shots in my back a long
time ago...like in 7th/8th grade...it's been an incredible journey which i don't wish onto
anyone...i may be a little curt sometimes but the impulse that guides my attempts,
comments and responses is ..." hey, don't be like me; we know more and do better
these days."
good luck, thanks for the note

aloha, joyce

hope you're doing better.
we are such polar oposites- rock and roll outlaw and church-going granny.
i have to admit i've grown muchly to enjoy your company.

the russet potatos rotted out with nine inches of rain in july and the tomatos have been
a disaster.

hope you don't get a wattering from gustav/gustaf
all the best

Yes, I do. I'm in Arizona and I need directions.

Jenn and all,

KA is a lively dynamic place with many strengths. Some of it's big one's are the number of new members we have joining up all of the time, the knowledge-sharing veritable wealth of info, and the consideration shown daily by such a large and diverse group.

KickAS has anywhere from 1 to 10 new members registering to join in each and everyday. (In fact, 48 more people have joined in the days since yourself, Jenn!) Many of us use the term 'newbies' fairly broadly to mean anyone who hasn't been here longer than 4 months or so... so it's literally a huge group at any given time. Unfortunately, it's a rare day when someone isn't newly diagnosed with AS or finds us due to the pain they are seeking an answer for. As this thread has grown, many of us have chimed in and hopefully the range of suggestions, guidance, comments and advice work for the benefit of all members, as they surely were not meant to cause offence but rather to offer various insights.

* * *

We are fortunate here to have a genuinely compassionate bunch... considerate in minding the statement of Rights & Responsibilities with only the occasional reminder nudge... And for any members who may have zipped right past it, in an excited gleeful rush to register and contribute, the R&R's are good to know.

Thanks,
mig
