Take care.

Hi Josh,
Welcome.... I am fairly new here also. I do not have AS, but my son does, he is 16 and used to run and play sports for High School. It took us about 2 years to get him correctly diagnosed and by the time we did he could barely walk to the school bus in the morning.
The good news is once he was correctly diagnosed and treated with enbrel he is doing much better. He no longer limps every day and he just got back on the ice playing hockey last night for the first time in a year. The medicine has helped so much.
I wish the same for you. I run 5 miles every day and I would be so upset if I couldn't do it any more.
Good luck and welcome!

I glad to hear of your son's success with the medicine. I will be starting Remicade treatments as soon as my insurance company returns all of the paperwork. Hoping that I'll respond well to the meds. I was to the point of just accepting that I'll never be able to do anything again, but now there is some hope!
I was out in NJ last summer for my best friends wedding. I think it was in Cherry Hill?

I'm not cut out for the driving there. I think I spent and extra $30 in tolls because of too many wrong turns! Oh, and those wierd turns, I think they were called jughandles? I probably should just stay in Iowa.

It's been awesome for me. Turned my life around completely. Now, 3 years in, I'm feeling the pain a bit more, but I'm still a ton better than I was!

Hugs,

Hi Josh,

Welcome to KA, glad you found us. I'm late to the party here, but I can see that many members have already given you lots of good advice, so I'll keep my post short and sweet. (Ask around, you'll learn that me staying "short and sweet' is one of the rarest events you'll witness here at KA!

As for your question about Remicade, I started on it about three months ago, and all I can say is "thank god." Since I started, I have felt better than I have in years. I was on Enbrel for five years, and it helped a lot for almost that entire time, but Remicade as been wayyyy better. Good luck getting approved by your insurance company.

Brad
