I was driving down a residential street Saturday afternoon and this guy coming the other way turned left right in front of me. All I could do is hit the brakes....then wait for the impact. I had 2 kids in the van with me and no one was hurt. My poor Victoria, who is 9, cried for a long time. She was really shook up.

A major flare started that same morning for me, so I couldn't really say at the time if I was hurt. A few hours later my neck was sure sore though. So now I have several thousands of dollars damage on my van and I really don't need to be dealing with this now. The bumper is smashed in...hood buckled. It could very well be a right off. Thank God I am still able to drive it. It looks like it has been through some kind of demolitian derby though because the windsheild is still smashed from when Vanessa went on a little 'joy ride' last summer.....hence the boot camp for the summer.

I don't know what people are thinking when driving these days. I guess it could have been worse, but still.

That is no good. People are in a hurry to get nowhere fast.

Take care.

when i was in my 20s, we were rear-ended when someone hydroplaned into us. as with you, the car was pretty damaged, but no one was hurt. still, i remember being pretty shaken up while riding in a car for months afterwards.

Glad no one was hurt.

Hi Sherri

Hope you and Victoria are better today.

Don't sign off from your insurance. Signs of whiplash can show up many years later.

Some lady didn't like my new Ford (Found on road dead - Driver return on Foot) at any rate my car was totalled and she was charged with damage to four cars in total. Result sore neck same day, whiplash many years later, and knee damage to both knees, when my seat let go and slammed them into the dash. (That was 1992)

Hugs

Gerri

You poor things you!! I'm so glad you're all right. How's Victoria today? And you?

You didn't need this right now, I know, but it could have been so much worse. I'm with the others about signing off on insurance before you know what damage might have been done. Please go in for a full check-up, with x-rays and any other damage seeking tool they might use. We are delicate flowers, we ASers.

Love,

Kat

Sherri,

Sorry to hear about the accident and the flare but I am betting from experience you felt much stiffer and worse on Sunday but hope you are starting to get some relief. It gets hard while driving on city streets and have to watch the other drivers plus yourself. You never know when someone is going to turn when they are near home because they rarely warn you.

Oh no! I am so glad you are ok and no one was seriously hurt!!

I was in an accident in 94 and I was so sore for a few days. My rheumy has emphaized (spell) that it is very important to wear seat belt especially if you have neck issues related to AS.

Get well soon!

I am deaf!!! Finally dx'ed with AS after 10 years. Yes, that is my cat in the picture of me. Yes, he does look pizzed! He doesn't like being held!

Oh Sherri,

Sometimes just when you think things can't get any worse...

Im just thankful that you and the kids werent seriously hurt more than you were.

How does it work there? Will his insurance have to pay for your van and your medical bills? I hope so.

Hugs,

Lisa

Sherri,

I'm glad everyone is ok. I was in an accident about 9 years ago. Some dude didn't see me coming and pulled out and hit my broadside in my driver's door. He pushed me into another lane and I started to go under a tractor trailer, but he had seen everything happening and was able to pull off the road so I didn't go under him. I am still afraid of people at stop signs. I didn't sign off on the insurance right away and got a considerable amount from them. I had whiplash and my wrist was severely sprained along with cuts everywhere from the smashed glass. And oh yeah, they had to cut me out of the car. Talk about freaking scary. But anyways, make sure your dr's document EVERYTHING and turn it over to their insurance. Don't let them get away without having to pay anything out.

Hello Sherri

Sorry to hear about the accident, it really shakes you up doesn't it? The standard of driving I see in my country is bad and I don't suppose it is any better over there.

I hope you are all ok and no other injuries crop up later.

Will the insurance cover everything? I really hope it does and you get the van all fixed up soon.

Take care Sherri
