Thomas, I strongly encourage you to go for it. Keeping active is integral to our overall wellbeing. There's a reason we say, "Use it or fuse it."
You might at some point want to look into pilates as well, which strengthens the core abdominal muscles, enabling them to do their job of supporting our bodies more effectively.

I went and spent an hour in the pool on Tuesday and it felt great. I'm about to go get some more PT love now.

Thursday was my first day in the Gym. I walked 10 minutes on the treadmill, went on some machine for inclined squats, squats, and some exercise with one pound ankle weights.
