If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

No sooner do I read that VIOXX (my favorite drug in the world for the last twelve months or so) may cause non-bacterial meningitis than I come across a piece on MSNBC's web site about how research scientists now believe it may provide a cure for certain kinds of cancers. Go figure! For those who are interested, here is the link: http://www.msnbc.com/news/731893.aspSorry that it's not a live link; I don't know how to do that here... yet. Just cut and paste the address into your browser. Interesting reading. FWIW and all that. Adam Rodman I made your link 'clickable' and moved the post to the Vioxx thread.Edited by strutsy on 03/31/02 09:28 PM (server time).

If it weren't for Vioxx, I don't know what I would do. For me its a miracle "cure". I try to use it sparingly (only when pain is bad) so that I don't build up a tolerance or develop an intolerance. I also try 12.5 mg. and then, if that does not work, I take another 12.5 mg.
Good luck to all, Brad

Hey Brad! Welcome to KA! and thanks for your first post. Being the pharmacy moderator, i'm honoured that it's in this forum . I'm glad the vioxx is working out for you. I've never heard about developing a tolerance to vioxx, but its a good thought, and one I'll explore abit further when I can. When you're feeling up to it, come and introduce yourself to the main forum. We'd love to get to know you. Hugs, Jeanna

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding Vioxx. Would Vioxx cause one to have high Albumin? I have tried to research it on the net and the only thing I can come up with is a few causes for high Albumin. Such as liver disease, which said is rare. I also found dehydration would cause it. But I was pretty well hydrated. I usually have a large glass of water before my moring coke(soda) fix. Hopefully someone will be able to give me some insight. Take care. Cara

Hello, My name is Paula and I was diagnosed last September. I've been on so many different drugs and have yet to find a suitable one that doesn't affect my stomach problems. I got the best pain relief when I was taking Indomethacin but unfortunately that left me with a stomach ulcer. I've tried Meloxicam which had no affect and also tramadol which made me violently sick. I've had co-proxamol, voltoral and just plain ibuprofen. I've tried various others which I can't think of right now. It's so frustrating when I just can't get any relief. I don't have ulcerative colitis but do have a very irritable bowel and suffer from a condition called Solitary Rectal Ulcer Syndrome. I also have had various Polyps removed at different intervals over the last 11 years. My whole spine is very inflammed and extremely stiff and I have right sacroiliac pain and also pain in my sternum. I'm finding it so hard to sleep and the whole thing is driving me mad at the moment!
The consultant I'm under is very good but it's hard to get appointments with him and at the moment I'm trying out Voix. It's actually normally prescribed for osteoarthritis but he thinks it may be easier on my stomach. It seemed to work at first but now seems to have lost it's affect. I'm due to start a new job in a few weeks after not having worked for 5 yrs since having my children. It's been the first time I've actually felt confident enough to go back as I really thought the Voix was helping. Before this, I've never really felt well enough to even consider regaining employment. Has anyone been successful in finding a drug which doesn't affect the stomach and also is anyone else on Voix? Any suggestions and words of comfort will be gratefully appreciated!

i Paula, and welcome to kickas. I have been on Vioxx for 3 years now, taking 25mg twice a day. I also take losec to prevent ulcers. I was previously on indomethacin for 7 years. At first the Vioxx was great for about a month while I was taking it once a day. After it wore off, my rhumey boosted me to twice dailt, and I have been great since. Hi Paula, I had vioxx 2 years ago. It helped me for a while but as per usual the drugs lose they strength and I move on to something else. I am currently taking 2 x 200mg celebrex a day. There o.k, I don't get stomach pains. I just have to watch my alcohol intake. I also take co-proxomal as top-ups. You are allowed 4 a day. I think it's horses for courses.
I hope the vioxx works out for you. take care
Martin.

I'm so sorry! I spent ages typing out my post without thinking to look at previous posts and after I'd sent it, there is was looking up at me! A whole 44 postings on the damn drug! I do apologise but hopefully most of you will sympathise with me and understand that it's this damn pain I'm getting from my AS that's affecting my brain as well!! I would still be grateful to hear of anyone that can suggest a drug that's worked well for the pain in the spine and hasn't affected their stomach. Many thanks - a very miserable and frustrated Paula!
