Hi Maggie
Good news today.
I never checked my bone density but will sometime soon since i have been swithcing from 'normal' diet to nsd for quite sometime.

Also, i am wondering which exercise is good to prevent osteo. Walking at this point of time is still a difficulty to my swollen heel and knee. I swim regually but heard that swimming is no good in increaing bone strengh. How about biking. I can do that.

Hi Charlie

Weight bearing exercise is supposed to be good. That's why swimming isn't good I suppose. Too bad 'cause I also would prefer swimming above all else ( if only we had a pool in my home town ). I would imagine that cycling would also be good then, if you're able to comfortably do it. When my hips or knees are flaring, I do not enjoy the walking but in my job I have no choice most days. Most of the time, I am fine for walking nowadays - lucky me.
Good idea to keep a check on your bone density - especially if, you happen to be taking any steroidal medication.

Take Care
Maggie

Great news Maggie. I've taken both Actonel and Fosamax, but right now the dr. has me taking Evista along with calcium tablets.

I'm sure the walking is helping too. They say weight bearing exercises are the ones that help osteo. Keep up the good work.

Why did the doc change you to Evista ? Is that new ?
I guess I just respond well to these meds.
I wonder too about Steroids. In 2001 my 1st case of Iritis was a real doozy. Lots of steroids including the old needle in the eye trick. I wonder if this and 2 further attacks since then, were the culprits. I havn't had an attack for some time now so maybe my body is recovering from the steroids anyway.
I don't even know if the eye drops are enough to have any great effect on bone density but it all seems to be possible considering the timing.

I hope you start to have some good success too.
