If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Tonight I got an email from a girlfriend in TX. It was a cartoon depicting a doctor and patient. The patient was a man sitting on an examining table. He was bent forward at the waist (just about parallel to the floor) with a very noticeable hump on his back. The caption read "Remember the twenty years you added to your life through clean, healthy living? Well- these are them."
I was hurt by the insensitivity. What do you guys think?

I would probably first be offended and then I would probably ignore it, knowing it was ignorance on her part. I would think about it a few days and not lash out. It is so easy to say things in an email that we later regret. I am sure she thought you would think it was funny and it was definitely NOT funny. I think just totally ignoring it would give her an idea. Hugs. Possi

Hi, I always think feeling offence at someone's insensitivity is really only a waste of your own precious energy. It's best to try to forget about it, keep what energy you have and asign it to positivity

I agree with the others, it would offend me, but I would just ignore it...
If she said anything else, I would probly say, I don't remember it or I didn't see the humor in it.
And it would depend on what kind of friend..if it was meant to be smart, she's not someone I would want around.

I wouldn't be offended, depending on who sent it to me, but I have a very wicked sense of humor and that sounds exactly like something my youngest sister would do. We are constantly ribbing each other about the fact that I have not (yet) convinced her to stop smoking and clean up her eating habits, and she can't believe we are the spawn of the same mother.
I mean, come on. We live north of this city with immense new subdivisions filled with retired people, and if I go down there to shop in the middle of the day, I, at age 50, can be the YOUNGEST shopper in the store, which is weird. Let me tell you, an awful lot of people get pretty bent over if they live long enough, and I doubt we have a secret enclave of spondylitics here. Some people just get taken over by gravity sooner rather than later, but it gets everybody in the end.
Now, would I send that type of thing to anyone here...OH MY GOSH, NO! Ghastly. Could be taken the wrong way.

You all have such good advice. Best to just ignore it.
I love to tell and receive jokes. Even told my dad's favorite old joke at his memorial service. Got a big laugh! I guess it was the visual of the fused position that floored me. I don't like to see a picture of what I might look like in the future (or others who are suffering in that way now) laughed at.
Thanks for the support.

If I may, it is our ability to laugh at the things that frighten us the most that makes us able to bear those things should they occur. And if they don't occur, we can tell ourselves that our laughter kept them at bay.
Many hugs,

Things like that don't really bother me to much. However I wish these people would realize that regardless of appearance we are all human beings. Rich, poor, black, white, male or female we are all equal and I make it a point to make sure I don't make anyone feel inferior to me. The world would be a better place if we treated each other with compassion and respect.
