I know I haven't been posting as much as I used to, so I wanted to give everybody an update.

I was ordered to rest (not "bedrest" technically, but close enough) about four weeks ago due to separation of joints in the hip/S-I/pelvic area. Although the pain is awful, the rest is just as bad sometimes. Right now it's (finally) raining, so I'm feeling that, too. But as dry and warm a Texas winter we've been having, I certainly can't complain.

I've been seeing both an OB and a perinatologist all along to follow the baby and I for any problems that baby and I might have because of the AS and meds. We've had 4 ultrasounds (I feel like I've already met the boy), and now we've worked up to doing weekly visits with non-stress tests to make sure he's doing ok.

The good news is that on thursday the peri told us that if my glucose test came back ok he didn't need to see us anymore, because there just isn't anything concerning about the baby that he needed to follow. So guess what? Yesterday I passed it!!! So now we're down to once a week checkups, with eight and a half weeks to go, and a whole lot less worrying to do in the meantime.

Now if I could just get free of this heartburn... (get out of my ribs, child!)

I hope you all are doing well. I read more than I write these days, but I do think of you often.

Hi LadyFierce,

We've not yet "spoken", but I've read your posts and enjoyed the update. I really wish you well with your pregnancy. I know it must be awfully difficult to be told to stay in bed, when bedrest isn't exactly an ASer's friend. I guess what might help the most is to focus on "that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow". (Saint Paddy's Day had a big influence on me!)

Hugs,
LadyBones

Chelle,

I am so glad things are going well...

What is your actual due date?? You and Tiffany are not that far off..She is due April 29th.

Today was the deadline for her...if she has him now they will not stop her labor..he would still be about 6 weeks early but I think he would be ok.

How old are your other kids? Are you going t be able to stay home with the baby?

Do you have all you need for him or did you give everything away?

I probly should have just wrote you a pm...lol

Let me know,

Lisa

Hi Chelle, That brings back memories. Twenty five years ago, I was suffering terrible heartburn waiting for the birth of my son. They used to say they would have a full head of hair if you had a lot of heartburn. Congratulations on the glucose test. Take care, Wanda

Thanks everybody for the well wishes. The rain still has me a little down & out today, but thought I'd pop in to see how everybody's doing.

Lisa~ I'm so glad to hear that Tiffany's still holding on! I keep thinking of her & little Sweet Pea, and hoping they're doing ok.

She actually has me beat by about a month. My actual due date is May 30th, but I'm having the c-section on May 19th.

I'm going to be staying home with the baby, at least for the first little while. I actually quit my job in pediatrics only a few months before I got pregnant, due to the AS. I'm waiting to see how I feel before I decide to either return to work, find a different field, or look into disability.

But really I'm glad for the chance to be home with the baby. I got to spend quite a bit of time with the kids when they were little, because I was still in college, and I really enjoyed it. Josh & Kaylie are 14 & 13 now. It's kind of fun to be able to share this whole experience with them. Plus, I'll have a lot more help now than I did when there were two toddlers running around the house!

We were actually told years ago that we couldn't have any more kids, so we definitely managed to get rid of everything since then. But we're getting what we need... slowly...

Wanda~ I've heard that tale, too. I'm hoping that it's not too true, though, or this little guy is going to look like a teddy bear.

Chelle, thanks so much for the update. I am sorry you are having such trouble with the hips/pelvic area, but glad to hear you got the all clear from the peri.

And a message for the baby - Stop kicking your mum in the ribs, little guy. You have time enough for giving her a hard time when you hit your teens!

Take care of you, Chelle.

Many hugs,

Kat
