OMG! I was diagnosed after having a L-4 thru S-1 fusion due to bilateral pars interarticularis defects (Fractures) back in 1978.

After the fusion I lived a pretty much a normal life. Having AS didn't seem to bother me until the 90's when I started having some pretty bad flares. In 1997 I became so inflamed that I had to quit work. In 1999 I went on the No Starch Diet and haven't had a flare since. That's the short of it. I highly reccommend you check out the Diet Dragonslayer and a bunch of other WELL informed people will be very happy to help you get started.

Pete

hi teddie... i'm teddi!

ok... take a deep breath... ... ... now, you're overwhelmed, no one gets this diagnosis and skips out of the docs office with a big grin on their face! sorry. if there's anything you need from your doc, CALL THEM, CALL THEM, CALL THEM!

i'm so glad you got here... it is the greatest thing to have ppl who understand AS... you don't have to explain... and you don't have to apologize here.

keep us up on how you're doing.

gentle hugs,
teddi (w/o the e)

keep smiling... it matters! FYI-Because of its literal definition ("fear of the marketplace"), agoraphobia is often misunderstood as a fear of crowds or a fear of open spaces. The clinical definition of agoraphobia is a fear of situations or places "from which escape might be difficult (or embarrassing) or in which help may not be available in the event" of a panic attack.
