I want to try out the NSD but my family thinks that I'm crazy. My family cooks my meals and it has been very hard trying to convince them to put less starch on the food / avoid the banned foods that listed in KickAS.
Please help!

have you bought carol sinclair's book? you should show it to them, and explain everything to them with reference to that book 'cos it explains everything very well and she is living proof it works. and show them this site, cos there's heaps of people on here who it works for. i suppose the only other way to convince them is by proving it to them yourself. maybe for a while, you should cook your own meals, etc. until they realise. ...just my thoughts...
good luck

Gosh, I don't know what to tell you. You're in a tough situation. Is there any way that you can take over the family cooking for awhile -- or at least cook for yourself? I know there are some loving (non-AS) spouses out there who cook NSD, but it is asking a lot because it's so radically different -- counter-cultural if you will -- especially when they haven't been convinced yet that the NSD makes such a difference. It might be possible for you to batch cook and refrigerate or even freeze a number of things for yourself like turkey burgers, salmon fillets, and chicken breasts (and there are some things that broil or cook really quickly right out of the freezer like fish fillets -- just sprinkle on some herbs and seasoning and it's good to go!); and then have veggies, fruit and salad (bag salad can be a time saver if you're pushed)on hand. That way it will be easy for you to quickly get what you need while they're eating all their starch laden foods.

I almost always cook enough for leftovers so that when my family is eating a starch laden meal, I'm not in a bind. I'm the cook here, so I have primary control, but I haven't made them give up pizza, or mashed potatoes and gravy when we have baked chicken. Last night, in fact, we had a baked chicken dinner with the works -- so I pulled from the freezer some frozen mashed Fotatoes (made from cauliflower) for myself and a "stuffing" that I made with sauteed onions, celery, poultry seasoning and coursely ground almonds. That way, everyone was happy. Even for me, it takes more work, but if I plan carefully, there are some time-saving ways to handle it (which is immensely important as I juggle kids, house and grad school).

Good luck. Paula

Learn to cook.

I guess I'm lucky, my husband has seen enough spectacularly bad food reactions when I've eaten certain things that he had no trouble believing me whatsoever that it made a difference to change.

Print off some of the testimonials here how well some people respond, maybe that will convince them. Does not hurt to try.

Could cook your own meals as worse case scenario if needed... I had to learn to cook myself for the most part.
