If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Bitter?!? If you didn't take that skeleton of the human anatomy that every Doc has in the exam room and hoist it over your head and knock some sense into the Doc after an unprofessional offering like that then you will never be bitter. I know I would not have the restraint or good sense to let good manners win out if my Doc was ever that foolish. SOrry to read that the man who should be your guide to battling this is a fool and put you through that type of ordeal. It sure sounds like you need a Doc to offer you better options as to med's for your increased pain. I hope you find the right help soon.     stevec-they also serve who stand and wait Edited by stevec on 10/21/04 11:58 PM (server time).

Hi Maggie So sorry to hear of this frustrating rhuematologist visit. You must be furious! It's is making me so mad just reading of it so you must be hopping mad and ready to scream! This guy sounds like a total loser. Makes me realize how lucky my husband was to get dxed within 1 year - obviously not the norm for most. I hope you take up Mig and Kat's offer and arrange a visit with a 'real' rheumatologist who is not going to blow you off. Until then, don't give up, hope you get some decent help soon Chelsea

Hi Maggie Sorry to hear that you were treated so badly at the rheumys. I makes you wonder why some people go into the medical profession at all. Your symptoms sound a lot like mine except that I don't have the Iritis. I also find that I am getting worse and was considering asking my gp for a referral to a rheumy The problem with that is we only have one here and I was to him before and will never go again. Another one is susposed to come and that is what is making me rethink about it but what if he is like the first. But back to you. You do not deserve to be treated like that esp when all you are asking for is a bit of relief it's not like you are demanding that he cure you. Take care Valerie

Don't you give up though, ok?? There is a good rheum out there for you.
Many hugs to you, sweetie!!

HI Maggie, Sorry you had such a bad experience with the new Rhuematoligist, I got bitter when I read that he told you mechanical back pain is from natural aging. That is just a cop out for him. I don't believe you are a whiner by no means. If only these Rhuematoligist's could experience the pain from AS for just one day they would probably be at the ER in a flash..Makes me so mad when doctor's will not listen to the patient. Hang in there and don't give up on finding someone who can help you.
I wish you the best and hope for pain free days.
Take care,
Maxine

Hi Maggie, Your visit reminds me of the first time I saw a Rhumy. I was told the disease was irreversible. There was no cure. I was also under the impression he didn't know much about the disease. It was when I started having so much back pain I went to a chiropractor and he is the one that explained the disease and what to expect down the road. I was told that if asprin did not upset my stomach it would be just as good as any medication. As a person that was into lots of exercise I was able to work the inflamation out of my body. In a week I will be 71 years old. I am totally fused and pain free. I made a decision that I was not going to let this disease defeat me. So with two Aleve a day when I remember and exercise three times a week and a positive attitude. I am going to be just fine.
My suggestion, stop banging your head against the wall get into the gym And fight this disease.
Best wishes, Doreen

Hi John [smi;e] The thing is that I hear he is usually so very nice. Now I'm thinking maybe it is ME that is irritating these rheumies so much. I'm not sure what to think I know I'm just going to coast for a while. Hugs Maggie

Hi Lovely Buggie I feel pretty sure he was mad at me for switching rheumies. When Cat recommended him I had no idea he was in the same practice as my present rheumy. They are both in the Arthritis centre in one of the Ottawa Hospitals. Offices next to each other. When I realized this, I thought UH OH !!However, I heard he was so nice so I decided to go ahead. Before the student or doctor see you, a nurse takes some details. I asked her what she thought the doc would think about me switching. She said not to worry what they think - I am perfectly at liberty to do so - Now SHE was awesome. Anyway - I'm not sure I want to go back there at all now. Why would I. Hugs to you Buggie Maggie

Hi Brent Yep - you do know how frustrating it all is. Your situation is far more severe than mine though so now I feel kind of ridiculous to be whining about me. Nevertheless, I feel that we should not need to be in dier (sp?) straights for a doctor to listen and treat us with respect. I think you are right. I am better off for now with my GP. I wanted to see specialists because I wasn't keen on her knowledge of AS or some other things. In the meantime though, I have now built up a good relationship with her and at least she LISTENS to me and treats me with respect and caring - that means a lot to me. Thanks for your understanding Brent, Maggie
