Oh man, Tim, this is going to be tough.
LOTR - all three - no need to explain
Braveheart - the scenery at the top of the film is stunning
Gone With the Wind - read the book at least 20 times, seen the movie so many times I think I'm in it. Vivien Leigh is probably the most beautiful woman I've ever seen and I had a major crush on Clark Gable when I was younger. I can't read or watch it anymore tho, 'cause every time Scarlett keeps making the same damned mistakes. You'd think she'd learn!!!

Casablanca - because it's beautiful and amazing
Any of the Kate Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movies - they are magic together
Pandora's Box - Louise Brooks - silent film from Germany. Amazing
The Last Samurai - The cinematography is stunning and Tom Cruise is actually quite good in it.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas - the bestest ever Christmas cartoon!!
It's a Wonderful Life - Jimmy Stewart, need I say more
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - see above
Philadelphia Story - Kate Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart, see above
Little Women - Kate Hepburn as Jo
The Lion in Winter - Peter O'Toole and Kate Hepburn - both are brilliant and it is an amazing screen play that actually kept to the integrity of the original play
Anything with James Bond - especially Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan. Really, Pierce should marry me.
Our Dancing Daughters - Joan Crawford's first starring role, silent film
The Party - Peter Sellers chasing his shoe down the indoor pond. Oh my god.
Star Wars and Star Trek - all of them, don't need to explain
Judgement at Nuremburg - Spencer Tracy, Montgomery Clift, Judy Garland, William Shatner - brilliant film, absolutely brilliant
The Wizard of Oz - because, because, because, because, because, because of the wonderful things it does!
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - I know it's covered under "Any of the Kate Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movies - they are magic together", but also Sidney Poitier and it was Mr. Tracy's last film appearance.
Born Yesterday - Judy Holliday and William Holden, wonderful
American in Paris - Have you
seen Gene Kelly dance?
Singing in the Rain - see above and Donald O'Connor dancing on the walls. I can never remember which movie it occurs in, this one or American in Paris, but his sequence with Cyd Charisse is magic.
OH! and LadyHawke - Rutger Haur, Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Broderick - Rutger Hauer is actually the hero in this one (sigh) and Matthew Broderick's character keeps making lovely deals with God if He'll only let him get out of whatever scrape he's in. I love this movie.
And Strictly Ballroom - Dirty Dancing meets classic Australian humour - comes out of left field and hits you in the back of the head.
Man, there are so many. Do I have to actually stop? I'd better, as I keep adding to it. There are so many.....
Ah crap, I just added to it again
Hugs,
Kat
