If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Dave, Glad to hear you are feeling better on the Salazopyrin - are you up to the 4 a day? I take both the Vioxx and the Salz but I try to skip days on the Vioxx to protect my tum. I think the longer you are on the Sals the more you will notice you can do. Hope you are having a good day, Debra

Hi,
-ves Noticed some GI irritation really low down....Got a funny rash on my calf, notice it's worse at night...? mention it next time but do n't want to spoil anything.
+ves Not getting the "hot spells" etc and that starting a cold feeling in the joints is better and mornings not as nasty.
Pain is down, doing some shoulder exercises got lots of little clunks and clicks but the stiffness and ROM are improving. Seems to be helping the neck. Still on the initial dose 3 half tablets a day!
Feeling positive....feeling better!
David

Personally, I'd try and see if something else works rather than go back on meds that have no effect. BUT, saying that, maybe you will try 2 a day as suggested already?
I was only on one a day, and Vioxx messed my stomach up in a short period of time. Saying it is 'easy' on the stomach is complete rubbish, as my rheumy even pointed out to me! I always took mine with my evening meal, yet still suffered for it.
Hope you sort something out for yourself soon.
Amber

Hi, Shane:
The treatment of choice for many years at Ebringer's London AS Clinic was his diet, plus enteric-coated sulfasalazine (Azulfidine-EN in US).
Voltaren greatly accelerated my condition by causing LGS. Although it was severe, it could not be contrasted on the friendly flex scope. I suffer today from the skeletal damage due to NSAIDs; they are not a long-term solution.
I hope that you are able to find a workable solution, without such consequences, soon. DMARDs from the start with AS: There is no middle ground. If your case requires new rules or bent rules, you should pursue it; there are many Kiwis who suffer with AS, and Carol Sinclair is from NZ, also. When I get the time, I will look through Ebringer's intro to see whether there is something to help you there.
Good luck to You, John

Wow, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Sorry to hear the med's are giving you so many gastric woes but putting you back on non- effective Vioxx just so you're taking something doesn't make much sense. Gott be other things to ry that maybe you will respond to without gastric duress. John's suggestionof enteric coated Azulfadine is what did the trick for my Mom for decades. Lots of other thingees to try other than Vioxx that doesn't offer you relief. Good luck. SOunds awfully furstrating.     stevec-they also serve who stand and wait

Dave, I have had to take Losec twice a day, and that does the trick for me, and no coffee or at least very little and also becareful with chocolate. My Gi specialist said it is Ok to take two, however I now have a vit C def. because Vit C needs stomach acid to be absorbed. I take injectable Vit C.
Hope you feel better, Janet

Hi Shane, goodness knows I'd prefer to be on a DMARD or biologic, but I'm on the Vioxx right now, twice daily for a total of 50mg. I still have a fair bit of pain some days (other days, far to few right now, I don't), but my range of motion has increases, so I know the Vioxx is working. It may be that you should be on a stonger dose?? Just a thought. I do hope you find some relief soon. Hugs, Kat

Hi Shane I was on Voltarin for 18 months when I started having stomach problems. So my gp blamed it on the Voltarin and switched me to celebrex. My Rheumy at the time didn't like that so he put me on vioxx. I only took that for a couple of days when I had side effects. I was put back on the celebrex. While all this was going on my stomach was getting worse and I was given prevacid -couldn't take it, then it was pantalock didn't work finally put on nexium. The stomach was still bothering so my gp took me off the celebrex this helped a lot. I still take the nexium since I am still bothered with stomach problems . But my gp said I can not take any of the meds since th vioxx and celebrex bothers my stomach they all will. Take care Valerie

have you tried the diclofenac 100 mg suppositories, they are called voltarol here in GB. I am taking one every other night, they work for between 12 and 16 hours and take less than 15 minutes to take effect. So far my guts have been OK, I was on Indomethacin 75mg three times a day prior to that, with DF118's for the extreme pain. I expect that I will end up changing again, but they are ok at the moment.

I don’t know if it’s just me or if something strange is going on. It seems like many AS Suffers who have been on Anti-inflammatories end up having stomach or GI problems. I have been on them now for four years and I have yet to have any problems. I do take the medication with food, but I have never had a problem with Celebrex or sulfasalziine. Does everyone have problems?
