The only thing that works for me is working out!!! I always say this but I use to have the same problems untill I decided to get in shape... I hardley ever have muscle spasms...

Wow. I find out new things every day here. I have had back spasms, and rib pain. I did not know that they were part of AS. I figured the docs would tell me IAIYH, so I did not even mention it to them. You guys are great.

Learn the exercises they teach you, so that when you are finished at the Hydrotherapy, you can continue yourself in a local pool. I found a heated pool not far from where I lived, and managed to keep doing the exercises by myself.
You may need to buy yourself some floats, they are normally easy to find.

Will do! I happen to live very close to the rheumatology department, so I've already signed up for weekly pool exercises there and the PT has made an exercise program for me. They even have exercise groups for AS:ers there a couple of times a week´.

I was reasonably close to the RPA hospital in Sydney, that was where I did my hydrotherapy. But there pool is booked solid and there is a queue a mile long to get into the programme. I got into the programme, when they threw me in Hospital for AS. Unfortunately the programme only lasted 8 weeks. That was when I did a search of the local pools, and found an Aquatic Centre with a heated hydrotherapy style pool.

The weirdist part, I was the youngst there. All the other patients were elderly.

I am sure you will find Hydrotherapy to be great. Hope you haven't got a bad PT, they can really torture you.

Also have you noticed how heavy you are, when you get out of the Hydrotherapy pool.

Take Care

Wayne,
Same thing here. Although I am no spring chicken, I was also the youngest (and healthiest) looking one there. Everyone made me feel very welcome, but didnt feel like I should really have been there...other were quite old, and very fragile looking....
