I've never seen her in concert, but her Music & the Mirror album is absolutely wonderful. Actually, the first song of hers that I ever heard was "Tango for Elora" (??). I can't remember which album it's off, but I first heard it as the opening for a documentary entitled "The Burning Times" made by the National Film Board back in the 80s. I will always be able to hear her singing that song, as it was permanently emblazoned into my memory the very first time I heard it.

Hugs,

Kat

Paul, you lucky %#¤!!

I saw YES in Oslo in....I believe it was back in 1989 or 1990...and I will never forget the experience, wow it was fantastic.
Yes has always been one of my favourite groups.
Along with Genesis, Rush, Black Sabbath and the Forever And Ever Absolutely Amazing Best In The World Pink Floyd.

Along with The Alan Parsons Project, Queen, ELO, The Cure, Pearl Jam, Whitesnake, David Bowie, Lenny Kravitz, George Michael, U2, Stone Temple Pilots, Meat Loaf, Alice in Chains, Annie Lennox, Bob Seger, Manfred Mann, Ministry, The Doors, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, ..........Lol! I could go on forever, music is half my life!

....and oh yeah, Linc, and AC/DC too!!

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder
Forever and ever......

I would think Loz that Luwig Van has had a word or two with god about the repertoire, and rightly so. I wonder how Mozart and Elvis are getting along up there!

Forgot to mention during my non-ranting rant, thatAl the ads on classic fm are comprised of drums and bass backgrounds! Am I puddled or would one wanting to advertise on a classical music radio station, chose for there ads, the music of choice of the listener to that station.....seems not........oops,I'm off again aren't I.......ok will shut up now and sing a bit of Jake. How about a verse of "Worried Brown Eyes", or "The Castleford Ladies Magical Circle" and better still, a stanza or two of the great Jake standard "On again On again"........No? oh, ok am off now.....................

Well Sorry all I don't know who Yes is or many of those others. I do know Mozart and Bethoven but I'm tottally lost on the rock and pop areas. I personally prefer classic country and bluegrass music, but I can get into celtic as well. Jazz is ok, I can listen to most anything I just don't always remember who they are. Have fun at the concert. Teri

Go figure?!? WOuld have never pegged you for a Yes-man.

As for me not very sophisticated in my musical preferences. I think its the times of my life that I associate my favorties with. Jersey beach days and girls meant Bruce Spingsteen. The seedier bars I enjoyed haunting would blare Lynard Skynard as loud as possible with smatterings of Black Crows.

Pathetic side of me can't resit James Taylor. And although iam not the least bit discerning I like Jazz, oive anywhere anytime preferably in a very small venue.

Hiya Paul,

Just to let you know I've had the pleasure of meeting Rick Wakeman a couple of times and he is very non-starsy, ever the gent, everything you would ever expect him to be really - a really nice, genuine type - that you feel like you know already...

His 'children' have adopted his stance and have inherited his musical talent - haven't had the joy of that one myself but Adam aparently ROCKS!!! (have that on good authority )

Have fun!!!

Take care,

Jan

Gotta disagree there Alan,

Take your favoured music a few generations forward and you'll find that Pink Floyd are the Beethoven of rock, and Queen the Mozart of rock. This might make sense to someone other than me, but I can't guarantee it :S

I won't expand on the idea for fear of ranting only to myself when everyone has already gone on to another post...

Nice list there Jade! I suppose my trouble with finding favourites is that I find all styles of music enjoyable when they are (in my own opinion only of course) well conceived and performed. With the exception of the most modern genres I have representative works from just about every genre in my collection and I enjoy them all. Well, I used to, till I had kids, now it's all animal songs and such like going round and around in my head when I don't want them to. Have you any idea how embarrassing it is when people catch you inadvertantly singing songs about dinasours and crocodiles out loud??

Hey Linc,

OMG an AC/DC fan

- the first rock concert I went to was AC/DC's Back in Black Tour - Angus was well cool but how the heck does anyone ever get to replace Bonn Scott??!!!

Exactly!!!

Let me know where your latest tastes lie - I have a great link to a site that mixes rock based stuff really well, great stuff that isn't even on Kazaa...

Take care,

Jan
