This is truely a sad day. We most probably lost one of our most active members, one look at the diet specific recipes forum will show that, we're on the edge of loosing one of our most wise members and one other is terribly hurt. I too see nothing but a misunderstanding and no bad intentions in the beginning of this thread, written word is so easily misinterpreted. I have tried to explain through pm (seemed appropriate in this thread) to no avail. So George you're certainly not the only one who sees it that way, you're way of looking at the world is terribly important and this thread only goes to show that.

Maybe this post is for the benefit of others here as I know if you say you won't be logging on you won't be, but I feel so strongly about this.

This post and the reactions are an example of what is wrong with KA.

People like Patty are intelligent, witty and lively, and as such become popular quickly. THAT seems to be the point at which some of the Stepford People on this site really don't like it - and thus starts the nit-picking of posts, and similar PM's - but of course they are more bitchy, away from the watch of the Fluffy Bunny folk. It almost had me leaving not long after joining, but the effects of the NSD and wanting to maintain contact there kept me here.

This site is called KickAS.

Patty gets evil PM's from someone who doesn't even have AS, telling her to stop wallowing in self-pity, and take her bone marrow problems elsewhere. What contribution has this nasty person made to the site? No where near as much as Patty has. Sassy may be one for hugs, love, prayers, and fluffy bunnies, but Patty has made a REAL impact on people's lives by helping to promote the NSD, by providing wonderful recipes, and untold support through PM's to NSD'ers who are struggling with getting started. Even her getting bone marrow failure from AS medications has been an inspiration to many, and a reason to keep on going withthe NSD even when there is little initial improvement, as they know it is worth keeping going with it, and they know that the side-effects of medicines is potentially a far worse deal than the AS.

Some people here almost seem to get off on wallowing in self-pity (attack the NSD'er and pray for pharmaceuticals rather than taking some responsibility for their lives) but Patty isn't one of them.

What a great loss to this site.

I know the fluffy bunny folk will pounce on me and attack me for naming Sassy as the evil b*tch who hurt Patty so much at the worst possible time (just after diagnosis) but just STOP AND THINK and make sure you direct your anger and disgust in the right direction.

Your ability to be objective is certainly something that is lacking here, and I know you will wince when you read my last post. But I really can't stand back and see Patty so viciously attacked when she is one of this sites most wondeful people and resources. I also know you'll understand why I said what I did.

And you George are a wonderful, kind, true gentleman, who is a treasured member of this place, and I truly hope you don't leave, just as I hope that Patty doesn't.

You have also become and will remain a great friend. I'm sorry that recent events have been distracting and I've not yet sent you the latest lot of info I collated: I'll start emailing you the pics soon. If you PM me your (home) address again I'll get the photocopies in the post to you also. (This kind of stuff is one of the great things about this place)

What is going on here???

I just logged on after 3 days and got excited to see that Patty had written a post after so long. I read the post and my initial thought was that it was an innocent question...actually in my opinion a harmless, trivial, question..perhaps designed to slowly re-enter KA after her absence. As I read on to what followed disappointed and quite frankly upset me. To think that anyone would accuse Patty of "humiliating" them deliberately is beyond me. I have seen Patty do nothing but make people smile and encourage them in previous posts, and not to mention the fact that she will individually reply to anyone who responds to her posts. That being said, I was totally shocked to read Cheryls barbed and inappropriate comments towards Patty....YES, they were inappropriate!!

Reading on further I discover that some selfish person who I'm sure operates in the guise of "niceness", has had the cheek to PM Patty and tell her to pretty much "ring Lifeline" instead of feeling free to discuss her SERIOUS diagnosis with her friends (family) here at KA. That, in my opinion, is one of the lowest things I have ever heard anyone do.

When I found this website..I was so happy...I had found people who understood what I was going through and for the first time in years felt very Un-alone!! I'm re-evaluating that opinion now. By telling Patty to take her problems..elsewhere....that person, in my opinion, is discriminating and saying that we are like some elite toff group that will only tolerate AS problems...that's not compassion...it is attitudes like that that begin wars. So now that we have discord and tension on top of our aches and pains, I hope the people that deserve apologies get them, and the ones that should be giving them take responsibility and do so.

There is enough rubbish going on in the world at the moment...and we all need a safe place to come home to. Family is family...we belong together.

Patty please come home.

I have hesitated to get involved in this thread. Must admit I have not read back to get a "feel" for the individuals in this forum. I have, however, come to really enjoy your contributions to this forum. Indeed, I give Patty and the other NSD'ers credit for the amazing change in my health over the past months. Just couldn't have done it without their kind encouragement. I, like you, saw absolutely no malice in Patty's post and am shocked by what has followed. I am hopeful that we can all put this behind us, learn from the experience, and move forward together, including you and Patty!!
