That is great news Patty!
I'm glad something positive is happening.
I hope they continue to figure this all out for you and you can start getting some help for all of this. Just stinks that you have to keep going through so much, but it's much better when you know your going through it for good reasons and it's not all leading you no where.
It's kind of scary when you think that we can prove our doctors wrong after all the schooling and everything they've have, but the sad part is it's not because they aren't smart, it's because they just refuse to listen. There are alot of good doctors out there, but then there are those like yours (and one I had) that just won't listen and becaue of this we deserve to have the gratification of proving them wrong. I'll never forget the look on my docs face when I came in with my results, and I am sure he'll never forget the look on mine either.
Hugs,
Lisa

Lisa,

The last time I saw the old rheumy, he asked me how my studies were going (I'm doing post-grad work as well as teaching). I told him fine, staying at the top of the class, etc. He just laughed and said, "When we were in med school, we had a saying: C = MD. Get it? All you need are C's to get an MD; A's aren't necessary." (Yeah, I really want the doc who had a 70% average -- meaning that he learned 70% of what he should have earned? Glad I left.)

Thanks for the words of encouragement -- I'm hoping. It will be a long wait til Tuesday when I get the results. (But Monday is when I'll take photocopies to the old rheumy!)

Good luck, Patty. We are all there and hoping for the best. Have you factored in X yet?
Really though, Best of luck and keep the 'chin up'. For us that is tough sometimes.

Hey Patty , Glad to hear your good news ! Never had one of those bone marrow biopsy things , does not sound fun . Close as I have come is a mylagram(sp) where the docs stick a needle between your vertabra but me and the docs found out if you are fused that's not gone happen but that didn't stop the doc from trying about 4 times with a very sharp needle ! I hope and pray the Roadback doc has the answer you need , Talk Later.

Patty,
Yahooo! I'm so grateful that the tests revealed something specific that can be treated.
Will keep you in my prayers... that the antibiotic treatment will be possible and that it will work.

As for doctors, I guess we live and learn. I recall waiting for years for an AS diagnosis. I recall arguing with my doctor "there is something seriously wrong, please send me to someone else, it isn't normal to wake up all night with muscle spasms" and her (practically yelling) response of "there is nothing wrong with you! I'm telling you. You have mechanical back pain, there is nothing wrong!". A week later I went for my next appointment with this same GP (who had many years of experience). When I arrived I was told the GP was sick but that a young intern was seeing patients for her. I met with the intern who immediately referred me to a rheumatologist. Once I met the rheumy, within a half hour he said he felt I had AS and later confirmed it via Catscan. Up until then, I thought doctors knew everything. That day I learned we are our own best doctors and we can trust what our bodies are telling us and we need to push as you say to get results from these busy doctors who I know mean well but are human and make mistakes just like we do.

cheers
Peggy
