If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi Evian,
I can only agree with Deborah on this one. When AS gets you in its grip a sense of helplessness, apathy and even despair can soon overcome you; most of us have experienced it, and I know a guy who does the same job as me with another employer who took the same way out with drink. He starts on the train going to work and after 'lunch' he is a danger. He is not allowed out of the office following complaints from clients.
And trying a low starch diet in your husband's case may not be so difficult, 'cos with all that booze the last thing he needs is more carbohydrates from spuds, bread, pasta etc. Diabetes will be next otherwise. I hope this helps you both find a way out of the impasse.
sublata causa tollitur effectus as we say
'Then you should say what you mean,' the March Hare went on. 'I do,' Alice hastily replied; 'at least - at least I mean what I say - that's the same thing , you know.' 'Not the same thing a bit!' said the Hatter.

Evian,
Maybe you should post your concerns at the main forum, the support group where more people will read about your situation. That way you should get more responses to your post as more people will see it. Hope everything is going better for you and your husband and you are taking some steps in the right direction.

Along with a DX such as AS there is often depression and many people, men in particular, self medicate with alcohol, makes them feel better for a bit but we all know that alcohol is a depressant so the downward spiral back into depression happens quickly. Also people who drink a lot are not often open to suggestions so maybe if you picked a moment when he had had nothing to drink and suggested to him that perhaps some medication for depression would be of benefit - - which of course is not supposed to be mixed with alcohol, so there may be a bit of a battle there. If he's on any meds generally prescribed for AS, alcohol is a really bad idea, if it's muscle relaxers he is in danger of overdosing, and if it's any of the others the alcohol will compound the effects on the liver - - with the exception of some of the new injectable DMARDS, such as Enbrel. So as the spouse of an AS sufferer you're in a very difficult and frustrating position. Does he come here to KA? That might be a start. Glad to see you posting.
