If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi there,
Have any of you noticed that when you have a couple of drinks in you that your pain is a little more tolerable?...or is it just me?
This is something I noticed and I wonder why....do you know why?
Thanks!

Guess alcohol gives a numbing feeling much like painkillers. Also it is probably a muscle relaxant (hence the slurred speach I guess!) so it might give temporarily relief.
The problem for me is that if I drink more than one or two alcohol units, I feel twice as terrible the next day! It is like alcohol has developed to be poison for my body. I can't seem to handle it and the next day I feel intoxicated and poisoned - even though I absolutely did not get drunk or anything. This extreme intolerance was never an issue before I got these arthritis symptoms 4 years ago, so it might be connected somehow.

Hi Angela, alcohol has its place - i have convinced myself of that and i'm off to harvest the vintage in a few weeks. I can indulge occaisionally in red wine and white wine - even to excess. I've been healing my gut as best i can with NSD, aloe vera and i'm sure it can accept low alcohol doses with no harm. If i drink much beer, i hurt, as i am gluten intolerant. My medication-free world deteriorates quickly, so i drink one beer only. I don't get any numbing as i have very little pain - more of a mood alterant - an upper that is. "Sentry" and others believe alcohol is unwise if candida is underlying the AS. Ted proAS_KickAS

Yep, same for me too. My pain is 'more manageable'.....or do I just forget about it? Maybe some of the pain is from muscle tension around those 'sore' area's, and the alcohol helps relax it? One thing I know is, alcohol doesnt worsen my symptoms in any way. Lucky eh?

Just a word of caution on the alcohol. I have always felt great when I was drinking. It allowed me to forget about the pain, and feel normal at least for a bit. I can not say for sure if alcohol is addictive, I guess it depends on the person. But for me wanting to feel normal is addictive, which led me to more and more drinking. Two weeks ago I got pulled over for speeding. Open container....DUI....refusal to take a breathalizer test....spent the night in a horrible little jail cell. Lawyer says I will likely lose my licence for a year, due to very tough state laws here. This means I will lose my job, which requires me to drive. I live alone and have no family or friends here to drive me around. So life is less normal than before. Just be careful. Mikeo

I drink a few glassesevery night of some good red wine. On the weekends I drink about a 12 pack a night. The AS goes away for weeks at a time for me!!!!!

I'm not a big drinker, but I like an occasional beer from time to time. A couple weeks ago, we had some friends over for cards. I had 4 beers and felt pretty good that night. The next morning, & the rest of the day, I couldn't have been more sore. I guess my beer swilling days are long past. It just ain't worth the agony. Glenn

Loz, just SEARCH by UserName "sentry" within three months - he posted on candida and alcohol. I think as a Doc, he's involved with alcoholics. Ted proAS_KickAS
