Good for you giving the diet a second go!
The others have made very valid points. Avoidance of "trouble" foods is key. However, I prefer raw veggies when possible since all enzymes are in tact. Cooking (heat) destroys these vital enzymes. I try to only lightly steam my veggies.
Also regarding uncertainty about your cooked versus raw veggies being starch. TEST them! You have the iodine. Use it.
Also I think that cooking the veggies releases the starch or coverts near harmless sugar to starch. Perhaps if you undertake a search on this forum using one or more of those keywords, you may find more information.
