I would just stay away from all processed foods unless you can find a safe source like a whole foods store where they sell uncured bacon and list all the ingredients. What helped me in the beginning to keep weight on was to eat lots of saturated fats. A big plate of dark chicken was the only thing that made me feel full in the early days. I know it goes against everything we've been taught but your body will eventually adjust to the diet like John says. It took me about a year but now I have to actually be careful again. And I have been able to back off the animal fats and get more of my fats from nuts and coconut oil.
