Hi, Kirk, I don't think I welcomed you to KickAS. I have a brother named Kirk, very nice name. I think it is a normal progression of AS. NSAID's can knock back the inflamation and the pain. Hot baths, gentle stretches, hot grain bags/heating pads; they all seem to help some. I know we're supposed to exercise, but when it gets like this, too much exercise can definately make it worse. I ended up in a wheelchair for a few months over this same kind of flare. It comes, and then it will go, or move to the other hip.  Possibly bursitis?? Hugs, Cindy
