Very well said Joanne, I'm sure you don't need my aproval, but I would agree with almost everything you have written.
Hi Alinus. I am definitely self-diagnosed for Candida as it seemed the only logical conclusion and was probably the only option i had (I am not entirely sure the NHS would recognise it as a gut problem for most ‘normal’ people anyway). I didn't think I particularly suffered with any specific Candida symptoms though.
The NSD had improved my AS symptoms a lot and initially i was very happy, but after a while things weren't as good as they used to be. I noticed I was worse the next day after eating sugar, then fruit, then milk and cheeses, so one by one, i cut them all out with reasonably good results, but as soon as i ate any of them, the AS was back the next day.
Then i discovered
http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com and roughly followed her diet (being rather sceptical of her credentials and whether it was actually a healthy diet or not). With the natural anti-fungals recommended, I am now after a year or so able to enjoy a couple of large cappuccinos a day (mostly with 50:50 coconut milk and whole milk, as I actually prefer it like that with a good dark roast coffee, rather than with just milk....mmm!, although just milk will do) and cheese and fruit regularly, even some cakes!
So for whatever reason Bee’s diet plus the NS, now LS Diet have worked brilliantly for me. I guess once a month, perhaps once every 2 months i push it too far with cakes, cheese, yoghurt, starch (still nothing like a normal UK resident though) and i have to immediately cut back to the strict NSD + Bees diet and hopefully within a few days to maybe a couple of weeks i am back to 99% no AS symptoms again. (As I only see my Rheumatologist once every 12-18 months and I am now pain and med free when i go, he has me down as 'in total remission or cured'. He did recommend the NSD though, 'as the NHS can't really do much for me!').
As Joanne said I only write this for others to read, I also push nothing, perhaps some may find it useful too.
I wish I could persuade my father (late 60’s) to try the diet properly (he sort of tried the LSD for a week or 2 a year ago) for his osteoarthritis, but he convinced himself it wouldn’t work (mostly because he kept cheating) and I couldn’t guarantee the diet will work for him as it’s Osteoarthritis not AS, so he’d rather put up with the pain than do the diet.
Now he can’t walk very far and is getting depressed as it’ll soon be time for new knees and hips.
Does anyone have experience of the NSD/LSD working with Osteoarthritis too?
My mother is actually on the same diet as me, as far as I can tell after many years of constantly changing multiple food allergies she is diabetic, but refuses to get tested, the diet works well for her though.
Anyway, enough now, I'm rambling.
All the best.
Stuart.
