Most fresh produce doesn't have a long shelf life too, so they start to get icky in a matter of a few days, then end up getting pitched.
By the way, how do you not get tired of eating the turkey soup all week long?

I have some difficulty with repetitive eating.
The only fresh produce I've been eating lately are romaine lettuce, celery, and chili peppers. So for now, I don't have to worry about iodine testing or trying to pawn off starchy stuff on family members. The lettuce might get icky if it lasted long enough, but I eat a LOT of it for fiber and vitamins -- one head only lasts a couple days. (Would you believe a salad made from 1/2 head romaine lettuce has 100% RDA vitamin C??)
About repetitive eating: eating something that makes you feel well is pretty motivating. The turkey soup is really easy on the digestion, even with the chili pepper for a little spice. Homemade soup really is good, even when simple. I was concerned about getting sick of it, but so far it really hasn't been a problem.
Probably getting sick of a food is a sign that your body needs a rest from it? When you have a bunch of food sensitivities that you aren't able to totally avoid, then rotation is the second best way to deal with it. If you start with foods that you like AND that are good for you, you might not get tired of them so easily.
