Wow, I am sorry you are in such a tough spot. Yes, the timing is definitely not on your side. I am sorry you were laid off in such a bad time. When will you be having the surgery? I take it that this is something you have to take care of right away. It would sure be a nice thing if you would be able to work things out ahead of time with your future employer but I can see where they would prefer to wait.

Would you still be able to collect unemployment if you have to go into surgery? I hope so.

I sure hope something will work out for you. This is a tough situation.
