I think things have improved a little though of recent years. The bunch of stiffs that were hospital consultants decided to try to be more friendly and adopted the policy of introducing themselves and shaking your hand at the commencement of the consultation. You could hear their teeth grinding as they approached you; I don't know who was more frightened, them or me.
But as a GP you will have an average of 10 minutes per patient so I imagine you will have a restless and fidgety queue building up in your waitng room. But I'm sure when they enter your room your smile and hello will instantly defuse their aggro. Just don't try to shake their hands!
