Hi. I've had Reiter's for 10 years (diagnosed then, I think I had it earlier) and like you, recently noticed focussing on my pelvic area, my sacrolitic joint, then up my spine, disabling me. I scoured the internet for info, and discovered the low-starch diet approach. I also saw doctor's who gave me pills and I have an appointment with a specialist. I held off on the pills and started the diet. Within a week I was functional with minimal pain and rigidity. It was amazing, like night and day. I was extremely strict, almost fasting at first, and taking probiotics (not wimpy yogurt variety) as advised. I printed out the diet chart from this site and adhered to it strictly, trying to eat foods that MAY EASE
AS. Now, about two weeks later, I am feeling even better. No pills. Diet or coincedence? I believe that time will tell me the diet makes a difference. In the meantime, I have a really good gut feeling about it.
Cheers!
