Hi Steve, you don't mention your medication, no doubt your doc will change it if it is an NSAID.
Some of your symptoms sound like IBD which can develop after or independently from AS.
Bottom line is gut damage causes the conditions, some meds exacerbate it too.
Hope you have an informative session with your doc, but it takes about one week of reading to know more than most GPs about AS so don't leave it all in his/her hands. Not intended as a slur on doctors either, just factual that the average family doctor does not deal with it a lot.
