OK - do that then!

That's what I meant when I said you have to be in the right headspace...

I even took a *take care of me* day off work, so that I had 3 clear days to fast!

And in the meantime, don't flog yourself with the wet noodle, will you?

Take care,

Louise

Mmm, noodles. LOL!

Thanks Louise. I'm at least avoiding the bad foods I continued eating before like avocado, pumkin and chocolate.

I will try and make some dark choc biscuits with coconut or almond flour and I must find those Japanese no-starch noodles today!

I finally started a food/symptoms diary.

And the only thing I ate today that I'm not supposed to (I think?!) is the bits of carrots that I forgot were in the bolognese sauce. Doh!

Mind you, I couldn't stick to not drinking coffee and that may be a factor too. Must try that one day. When I have been sleeping better hopefully.

Will finally get some iodine tomorrow too.

The pain in the base of my skull is not as bad as it was yesterday. Neck still painful though. I dread trying to sleep.

Hi Linella,
Just a bit more encouragement from someone who has been RIGHT where you are! Go the food diary - Good on you. It was the ONLY thing that worked for me - and yes, just like others have mentioned for me it was SLOW SLOW SLOW.

Also, you might be like me and be one of the of people on here who can't do dairy, eggs or sugar. To top it off, a bit of rice is OK with me (I have blood sugar issues too so this is a saviour)... but give me an egg (or even 1/2 a slice of starch-free cake with egg in it) and WOO HOO PAIN.

Keep on. My mum is at the same stage as you are. Been on it for about a month and telling me she's no better. I know it can work - so keep trying!

I caved in. I quit the diet on Saturday night. I have not tried strictly enough nor long enough to know if it was effective. I did not get worse when I started eating starch again, which is something.

What I can say for sure that I will never look at food in the same way again. I cannot bring myself to eat things like hot chips or potato crisps, nor do I feel the need to eat bread. I will continue eating salads for lunch and try to keep my breakfast no or low starch. I will not eat potatoes as often as I used to either. And will eat more veggies and fruit.

So that's a positive, and the fact that I know that I have been able to (kind of) do this for 2 months and can do it again if I want to try at a later stage.

Thanks all for your encouragement and understanding. I will keep visiting here to follow your journeys.

Hi Linella, my husband recalled a month ago when we were on a trip, he ate like 10 cheese sticks (contains starch for sure), and he was okay too.

that is why he's not sure if he has to go strict on NSD.
