I'm SO glad to hear you're ok and I'm so sorry your house is a total loss. That sucks so bad. I know exactly what you mean about the evacuations. People who don't deal with this, don't quite understand everything involved in it. Your explanation was right on.
Are you going to have to tear your house down and rebuild?
