never managed to read through all of the replies ......but your gum problem is more than likely to be PERIODONTAL disease http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/OralHealth/Topics/GumDiseases/PeriodontalGumDisease.htmi have it myself and the only way it can be managed is by a huge effort in dental hygiene practice
