If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Holy cow Michelle. I can't imagine having to do all of that. Do you think they will total out the house? If they only totaled one house, would you keep the other one? Or sell the other one off and just leave LA?

I don't really know Sarah, part of me wants to stay but honestly, it's getting old, going through these hurricanes, for the last three years, we've spent amost all of our time cleaning, painting, roofing, rebuilding, repairing or evacuating, it's time to get back to living. Louisiana is our home but....leaving might be the most practical thing to do, although it will also be the most painful.

I just finished reading the minutes from the OEP meeting concerning Cameron, Creole, Hackberry, basically the whole area and I was both shocked and impressed, they advised citizens that we are still under a mandatory evacuation and we won't be able to return until it's safe and then they went down the usual list of hazards, snakes, alligators, chemicals...but what impressed me is they ended with a note about bacteria in the standing water that could affect the young, old and those with a compromised immune system such as persons with auto-immune diseases. I think it will in all probability be quite some time before we can get in there, because they actually moved all court cases from the area to a court house up north instead of just suspending court and I've still gotten no mail at either place since two days before the storm.

Well, the post-hurricane hatchlings have arrived! OMG...I walked outside this morning and got mugged by some of the biggest mosquitoes I've ever seen!! We had the same problem in '05, a week to the day after the hurricane, I was outside at around 2 p.m. cleaning up debris and one of my neighbors hollered over at me to take cover, she said that she'd just heard on the radio that a swarm of mosquitoes was heading our way, she no longer got the words out of her mouth when a swarm of mosquitoes so big came through that it almost blocked out the sun! Well, it got hazy anyway, it was unreal! What happens is this, the mosquitoes lay eggs in all the warm water that the storm pushed ashore and that water is absent of it's normal mosquito egg eating predator population and the parish hasn't been out spraying either, so this unbelievable mass of eggs hatch but there's nothing for the mosquitoes to eat, so they head north in search of food, it's a sight to see, but this time, they invaded in the still of the night! I heard on the 6:00 news that they're going to send out the planes as soon as the sun comes up to spray the little monsters...

I can imagine leaving under these circumstances would be hard. It's not like you're leaving because you really want to, but more like because you feel that you have to. I can imagine it's been quite tough. You definitely need to get back to living.
Did the adjuster come out?

Yeah, the adjuster came to the house in the city but they're getting real good at squirming out of paying, flood insurance here costs us $428.00 a month and it only covers 60% of the loss and the adjuster tried to tell us that the water only came up 10" deep, so I gave him a copy of the pictures, so we'll see. And it is going to be hard to leave but you're right, it's time for us to get back to living...

Oh they're awful Sarah, even in the daytime, I heard the plane this morning but it didn't sound like he was low enough to spray, I'm wondering if they can't really spray certain areas because it will get inside the houses that have roof damage or that have to keep their windows open because their AC was ruined by the water and could make people sick or worse.

ohmygosh Michelle. that's horrible. Only 60%???? Only 10" huh? Hopefully those pictures will prove they're insane!
Speaking of moving, Tim and I are contemplating a move to FL. How crazy is that? You want to get away from hurricanes and I want to move to them!

That might be it. I know when the planes up here spray their crops they have to be really careful after a storm or anything that's left a home exposed in any way. Could be the same thing.
