Any idea on how much it costs and at what interval is it injected for the following

Enbrel - cost & Interval time

Humira - cost & Interval time

Remicade - cost & Interval time

Please let is know, as i specifically looking at India costs for myself.
Let's see...as I recall, all three are ridiculously expensive and the frequency of doses can vary from patient to patient.

Enbrel was self-injected every two weeks initially but later was upped to weekly shots? I think I remember someone saying it was around $1,500/month Canadian? I really have no idea since I've never actually paid for any of it.

Humira was an auto-inject pen that was taken on a similar schedule. The costs were also around the same amount, I suspect.

Remicade is even more expensive, I think, and the dosing is odd. Initially you get shots at the zero, two and eighth week (or something like that) and then it is typically every eight weeks after that. There is a standard dosage based largely on body weight but the dose and the frequency can be altered. For example, I have gone from 400mg to 600mg and from eight week cycles to six (at some point in the near future when I have a rheumy again).

Each one seems to have initial efficacy that wears off within a few months or weeks even. This isn't always the case but more than a few folks in here will tell the same story.

I hope this is useful to you, I am trying to recall the details from memory and cannot verify anything at all.

Best of luck to you,

Chris

thanks chris,
Hi Manju,
I'm in Canada.
Enbrel is administered at 25mg shots twice a week, or 50mg once a week. Either one ends up costing the same at about $1400 per month.

I tried humira, which is administered as an injection once every two weeks, and it also cost the same per month.

Remicade is an IV medication that needs to be administered by a health professional, sometimes in hospital or special clinic. The dosage is based on your body weight, so the cost will vary from person to person. The first 3 IV sessions (loading doses) are two weeks apart, and after that, it's usually every 8 weeks. Although some people require it every 6 weeks, and some lucky people can go as far as 12 weeks between IV doses.

For a large person, remicade may cost more than enbrel or humira.

Check a hospital pharmacy - they may have better information for the costs of all 3 of these in India.

Sure hope you find something that helps! Good luck. smile
Hi Manju

Remicade is 65000 per dose and Enbrel is around 22000 per 50ml injection

not sure about Humira

Enbrel and Humira are simple to use but for Remicade you need specialist assistance and also takes around 5-6 hrs to inject a single dose.
