My daughter Amanda is only 19 and I have spent quite a few hours in Emerg with her lately. Perianal Abcess, some other kind of abcess and weird smelly rash and major blood loss from her butt:(
She got in to see a GI specialist, the day after my last surgery, which was August 22, so wanted to go with her but I was in Hospital. He thinks all of this is connected and is sending her for a colonoscopy to rule out colon cancer as both my mom and Steves mom died from this
He also says sounds like Chrons. I don't think a young girl of her age needs this worry and neither do I.
I am worried about my girl.....she is such a good responsible hard worker.......makes me sad. Keep her in your thoughts if you can
Sherri, I am so sorry. I definitely will. When does she have her colonoscopy? Be sure and keep up informed.
How are you doing?
Hugs for you and your family.
It sounds like our oldest daughter = chrons.... she is in remission when she is no / low starch diet...
She and you - are in my prayers..
Very sorry to read this... makes me sad as well having my a son myself. Rather battle everything myself than to have to see a child battle it.
Lots of well wishes and prayers to you and daughter all turns out well.
Hang in there.
I hope the doctors can figure it out soon for her. I know it's hard not to worry about our kids but we do. Do what you can for her and take care of yourself too. Keep in touch.
I will keep her in my Prayers. It breaks my heart to see kids struggling in life, this world is tough enough without serious health problems.
Sherri and Amanda
I believe the Colonoscopy is Nov 13 and just now she text me and said she has an MRI on Dec 10.
I am ok......my intestines, bladder and bowels are very sore and I am still fighting with the horrible gas pains. I have had enough already. I get better everyday it seems so its all good.
Thank you Lon,
Amanda and I have been talking about making a drastic change in our diets. Probably more drastic for her than me but it will cut out a lot of starch and I hope it helps her.
It is tough. What I haven't mentioned is my oldest daughter Vanessa is going to see the same Rheumatologist as me.....she has a bad back
Also my Youngest daughter, who is 14, has been coughing up blood. When it rains it pours
We should have some answers within the next few months once all the testing is done.
Thank you Darrel
Awe thank you Louise
I wish you and your beautiful daughter the very best.
Sorry to hear she is going through this. All the very best and fingers crossed everything turns out ok.
Thank you so much Trish, I appreciate it!! Amanda is the big smile right in the front of my pic
Aw, that's too bad, let us know how she is doing and what her diagnosis is. If she has Crohn's Disease, I have read so many wonderful accounts of healing through the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, and so on. There's a new book out describing this, the woman who wrote it got soooo sick and now she is healthy as long as she avoids the foods that cause her to flare. Best wishes! https://www.facebook.com/AgainstAllGrain?fref=ts
Thank you Jan
My Dear Sherri,
as you know many of us are negative blood type and our X=rays continue to change... so I am saying.... my daughter Janeen has chrons and the joint pain like I do. but no AS diagnosis. Yet the no starch / no milk diet will put her into remission within a few days.
you may not want to wait?? let her know we love her and that many of us never do get a diagnosis, but diet does help some of us..
Blessings to you and her,
Gee she looks like you Sherri.
Big hugs to all of you. With a strong mum like you I am sure she will do fine whatever the outcome.
Lon she is already making changes to her diet and she really isn't 'suffering' right now. She works like crazy just like I used to even when she was really suffering
She's a strong kid too so we will get through this.....
Thanks again Trish !! Amanda is a beautiful girl....my oldest is on the far right of the picture, Vanessa, she will be seeing the same Rheumie as me....she has back troubles for years now. My youngest girl, Victoris, is on the other side of Amanda. She has been coughing up blood and still trying to get answers for that
That is not good that all your girls are suffering. I hope you find answers for Victoria also.
I really must update my photo. You would hardly recognise my boy now compared to this photo.
I know for me when my children are suffering, my issues seem not important at all. Our children are everything.
Take care of your self.
Sorry to hear Sherri.
It must be hard as a parent. I know that it has been hard for my Dad to see me struggling with my health. It's also really hard for me to see him upset. Hopefully you can get all of their health issues under control.
Will be thinking of all of you, and hope that you get answers very soon, so you know what (if anything) you are dealing with.
I hope so too Trish
My pic is getting old too. The two oldest are much the same but the 2 youngest, Victoria and my boy, have changed a lot !!
Yes it is hard on parents to see their kids suffer ! I do all that I can for them
I am so sorry that they have these problems. It is terrible for parents to see their kids sick. One of ours has tested positive for SLE but she is keeping on going. The other two both are having lots of back pain. The oldest had surgery in her 30's. They won't share a lot with me about their dr. appts. They seem to think Mom has enough to worry about. They keep on working, walking and doing the things they think they should.
Yes Joyce it is sad.....but the kids keep going and I guess that is one good thing. My kids don't say much at all about it either....maybe their way of dealing with it
My daughters Colonoscopy is Nov 13 and I am getting so nervous
Just take deep breaths, Sherri. You are such a good mom, worrying about them and loving them through it. Hope the tests give the doc(s) the answers they need to give her the treatment she needs. Hang in there, girl.
I am sorry to hear this news about your kid's health.
You are in a position to teach them about the value and quality of life, because when kids are in pain...they do listen.
LET them know, uncle Lonnie and others are praying for their health.
Love and prayers to you and your family.
Thanks Theresa........she was in so much pain last night I feel so bad
Hopefully it's cut and dried when she has the Ultrasound and MRI
Thanks Lon so much......I will let them know for sure
Thinking of you all. Let us know how things go.
Thanks Joyce ! I will keep you posted
Sorry to hear Sherri. Must be really tough for her. Hope things work out okay.
Thanks so much Seb.....tomorrow is the day for her Colonoscopy and I am pretty sure we will know something then
Sherribelle, I am so sorry to hear of all of this. Colonoscopies are surreal, that's for sure. I hope it gives the information required to get Amanda proper treatment. If it's Crohn's, then at least she'll be closer to getting proper treatment.
I must say, it's awfully unfair that she's having to experience this, that any of you is having to. White light and love coming at the speed of thought.
Love and Warm Hugs,
Thinking of her tomorrow Sherri! Whatever the news, at least you will know. Saying a prayer tonight.
