Hey John
Nice pic of Sable. The girls loved seeing her on the screen. Carol-Ann (younger one) said she remembered Sable jumping up at her. She loves animals that one.
Where does she get the hair job? Not that you need it though. What am I saying, me neither...lol
Take care my friend,

THanks for the pic john and reminder of how much I like my dogs when I need that gift of unique affection they give.

I think the language barrier makes it impossible for them to notice that I'm quite nuts.

Maybe not Steve. Hey John, can your dog read the posts?

I take that back, I think you are perfectly normal Steve. Sable's opinion doesn't count.

Over the years, I've known a lot of families with dogs and I am convinced that the black Lab is probably the best dog you could have. They are so cool all the time and children are always safe with them.

How old is yours Steph?

Thanks for sharing. This is the kind of post I can really enjoy as I am a huge animal lover. I used to do basic obedience training for years then I got into guard work. Started doing it just as favors for friends then people started paying me to do it. Not bad getting paid for something you love doing.

Hiya Sue,
We wanted a dog for years but I didn't think I could cope with a puppy and my two kids as well as keep an eye on Shug...lol... so we waited a while. The summer seemed the right time for us all to make the commitment and I'm glad we did, he's all but lost his puppy "cuteness" now, but the welcome he gives you after I come in from work means more than the cuteness factor....I'll try and get him to sit still long enough and I'll take an updated pic and post it later today!

Take care
Jackie

Posted By: Sue in Oz Re: Here's Aspen - 11/11/01 08:59 AM
That'd be lovely, Jackie. I know what you mean about the extra work, but the warm welcome and good company more than makes up for it, I'm sure?! Even my little cat is good company, and gives me a warmer welcome than anyone else in the family!!

Hugs,
Sue

It's true what they say about Labs...all through their lifes, no matter how big they get, they always believe they are lap dogs. They forever want to be on me. Bogart has become a very big part of my life. He is the smartest dog I have ever befriended. He opens and closes the doors for me, answers the phone and brings it to me if I'm in another room, picks thing up for me when I drop them, gets me my cane etc.. and it only took a matter of minutes for him to learn each thing.
I was thinking of putting his and Flyer's pic as my sig pic, but I just couldn't let Tia go. After all, she is one of us with having AS and all. She is now our angel and here is where she'll stay
I truly think she has had a hand in helping Bogart to help me.
Hugs,
Lisa

Have you thought about getting another one? I really didn't want to get another one right after Tia passed...still had Bogart, but then Flyer came around and he was just so perfect for our situation. Bogart was missing Tia so much too, so I felt he needed to have another friend and playmate.

Christine, Marvin is absolutely adorable!
Rabbits are so neat. My daughter can't have a dog where she is either, so she has a rabbit also.
She has always had dogs growing up, and it really bugs her not being able to have one. I told her the baby (Alex) will keep her busy enough for ahwile.

Take care,

Hi Rose, I've always wanted to get a Papillion (butterfly dog) I had a part chihuahua and part pomeranion. After he passed, I couldn't find another that even came close to looking like him, other than that breed. I had to laugh because when my son was little he used to tell people that his dog was part chihuahua and part Canadian
The Papillions are hard to find around here. Maybe someday I'll get one. For now the two labs are plenty enough for me. Sounds like you have your hands full
Take Care,
Lisa

Posted By: HarleyQuinn Re: My Baby - 11/12/01 05:24 AM
Hi Christine,

When I was younger we had a lop who looked a lot like Marvin. Her name was Rafferty because we were told she was a male but I always called her Tina for some reason. Now I know why...she was a GIRL! We bought her a litter box and she used it in the house. She loved to come in and run around our den as fast as possible. Then she would spread out and go into a very deep sleep. She would also sit next to me on our deck in the backyard. I really miss her she was such a wonderful bunny.

Take care and huggggggs,

Lisa

Posted By: HarleyQuinn Re: Here's Aspen - 11/12/01 05:56 AM
Hi Lisa,

Next door to us we have a Schnoodle. She is part Schnauser and part poodle. While she looks innocent she is not a very nice dog and I have the dog bite scar to prove it. She loves to chase after our little Holly and poor Holly is scared of her...with good reason. When I told SteveC about the name of the breed...he thought I was kidding. It is very funny when you think of it...a Schoodle.

Take care and hugggggggggs,

Lisa

Posted By: HarleyQuinn Re: My Baby - 11/12/01 06:48 AM
Hi Erie,

Our mini-lop was 1 pound over weight and she had a LOVE of milk bones. She would steal them away from our doggie Scooter who was about 14 or 15 years old at the time. The Vet said that if she had been eating milk bones for a long time...just keep giving them to her.

Take care and hugggggggs,

Lisa

Adorable little fuzzy faces! We have two big dogs now but for years always had a small one in the pack, first my little Suzy, a cookapoo, lived to be almost 18, and then Little Orphan Annie from the Pound (we called her Annie), a Benji looking dog of mysterious ancestry, who also lived quite a long life. Maybe after we move we'll add another family member, a little dog to keep the big guys in line

Thanks for the spelling ,sometimes the brain works as well as the bones. Steve is great, I took him away from these mean people who beat him, He was a quivering mass of jello for the first few weeks I had to be very patient. My daughter's friends family had him and the father is a nutcase, seemed Steve used to wet in the house and I guess beating him was the answer. He wet a few times when we rescued him but positive reinforcement and some love stopped that. He has such a sweet personality. Not very many people know about the butterfly thing. He is the taller breed, has one blue eye and one brown. They are a rare breed at one time bred for the Italian monarchy. Look at me rambling again. Get me on the subject of my babies and....... Peace. Rose.

Like your baby.We had two bunnies years ago.Once i had them loose in the house and they managed to cut off the plug-in cord to a lamp and the TV.Lucky there were no injurys.Turned out to be funny.

Marvin does the same thing -- he hauls his little bunny buns around just as fast as he can -- wreaking mass havic -- and then collapses.

It's rather charming actually!

Take care,

well as long as you and your cockroach have bonded, and you enjoy each other's company -- that's all that counts!

I cannot tell you how many computer wires he has chewed through, including clock radio and phone wires! We've dubbed all wired bunny pasta! We've got the place as bunny proofed as you could possibly think, but every once in awhile, we'll slip up, and Marvin will chomp it in half.

Always amusing!

take care,

Christine

Hey Joe,
My baby's name is Ginger too. She's a pound puppy. She's part german shepard and part Rhodesian Ridgeback. For those of you who don't know what a Rhodesian Ridgeback is it's a dog breed in Africa to hunt lions. When she gets worked up, her hair down her back stands up. She weighs bout 85 lbs and is very well behaved...in fact she listens better sometimes than my children do!! She can do many tricks too...sit, down, all the way down (puts her head on the floor), sit up, bow, gives her paw then gives her other paw, she will sit still while I put a treat on her nose then waits til I tell her OK, she stays/stops and heels quite good so I don't have to use a leach on her.

We also have a rabbit which is my daugher, Nicole's. Actually Coby is quite friendly...but he didn't used to be. He will come to my hubby when he rubs/scratches the floor, he runs circles around my legs when I get a treat for him, uses a litter box and best of all, goes into his cage when I ring a bell. So nice not to have to chase him around to get him in his cage at night.

Animals can be such a comfort at times.

Hi Linda,

On my Hubby's 30th birthday this year we lost our beautiful Athene, who was a fawn boxer. She was so sweet and smart. She knew so many human words it was amazing. She started off as my Hubby's doggie...he brought her home when she was just an itty bitty puppy. She ended up being a Mommy's girl and went to work with me almost everyday. I miss her so much still...she was the first big doggie I ever had. Here is Athene's baby picture. I hope you enjoy it.

Take care and hugggggggs,

Lisa

Thank you! I am a proud mama!

Spanky was adopted. Somebody abandoned him and he was pitiful when I got him...too skinny and desperately needing some grooming. I think his previous owners would hurt him too. They said he was Maltese, but I think he has some Poodle in him too. Not really sure of his breed or his age...

Hi Erie

Nice pic I thought cats would not get along with a rabbit. Mine when I was a kid would hunt them and bring them home. It was so gross the cat would be all scratched up and the pour rabbit. My father had to have the cat put down because thats all he would do. I think that is so COOL that they yours get along so well. Take Care.

Hi Amy,

Spanky looks a lot like our first Maltese Scooter. I was wondering how much he weighed. I noticed the curly tail and the dark eyes and nose. Our Scooter was about 7 pounds. Does Spanky have an attitude? Does he love to lay on pillows? Both are condusive to the Maltese breed. Our Holly is only 3.5 lbs and is a runs the house. She is charge of her "sisters" who are at least 15 times her size. She does have a sweet side too though...but only when she wants to be nice.

Take care and huggggggs,

Lisa

Thanks for the compliment, Debbie! Yes - I am very proud of her. She's not just my "baby", but also my best friend. The photo was taken at her engagement party last October - she's getting married in April next year............so I guess she won't be my "baby" any longer...........

I'm sure Mike will be delighted to receive that photo for Christmas. You're right - those sorts of photos are priceless treasures.

Hugs,
Sue
