That is what my health file is showing.

I welcome your thoughts. All I know is I keep getting symptoms of Ankylosing Spondylosis without having it.

I also have Drusen in my eyes.

Does anyone else have this or have words of advice? DragonSlayer please respond if you have spare time

I don't know whether drusen are the result of having iritis or not. You are B27 positive, so certainly a "carrier," but that is a redundant term! The underlying disease that causes AS is KRA (Klebsiella Reactive Arthritis) and the constellation of symptoms vary between patients but everyone with B27 antigen AND AS symptoms should be considered active AS. That is not helpful to You; it is something that You already knew. Weird that NHS requires permanent damage to place the label of AS on patients, but their "benign neglect" is probably because they cannot tell anyone HOW to PREVENT that characteristic damage! Carol Sinclair's primary KRA symptom was IBS and she cannot get a diagnosis because, even after many decades, she never fused; her diet saw to that. I have not had iritis in many years and I always ask the ophthalmologist whether I have the errant "cells" but negative every visit. Do You have Your ESR and CRP tested? What kinds of supplementation are You taking? EVOO by the teaspoonful >14 daily especially before each meal can help. Inflammation can be reduced by taking a large amount of borage seed oil before retiring 6-8g 3 days in a row. And especially where You live VITD!!! Hope You start feeling better,

Thanks, John for responding! My ESR tested level has increased as has my CRP. Doctor sees inflammation between the discs and wanted to know how much pain I'm in. Well some days more than others was my reply. He promptly prescribed painkillers. Between you and I, I never filled that prescription trusting plain Tylenol instead.

Last week, DragonSlayer I saw a back specialist who had my X-ray on his computer monitor. For the first time I saw the corner of one of my discs. It looked rather interesting, wasn't shiny but was brown. He said it's arthritis when I asked what causes that to a disc. Just the corner with what looked like a straight line and then a perfect triangle-shaped corner. Amazing I say.

Prescribed Depo-Medrol shots and said they would be injected with the use of X-ray (?) to guide them. This both freaks me and amazes me.

He prescribed Diclofenac Sodium. They make me feel very hot.

Also am being sent to Physiotherapy. I am feeling stiffer.

So now is this my beginning of living with spinal arthritis? I hope you both see and answer this post with my thanks.

Is the reason for the corner not being shiny but brown in color because my back discs are not inflamed or ??

I HATE Voltaren! 75mg greatly accelerated my AS due to intestinal lesions caused by using these drugs; it was an effective drug, but not worth the long-term consequences.
Tell the doctor to prescribe a COx-2 inhibitor instead.
Guided depo-medrol might help very much, but the relief it temporary.
If You have Your X-rays, note the "squaring" of the vertebrae that will deform the discs as You describe, at the level of injection.
Can You correlate that location with the chronic pain? It is very frustrating, once the inflammation has worked its damage, and now stuck with permanent skeletal changes!

But why was the corner brown? Does that mean my body has already covered up the shiny area with new bone? It definitely is the funkiest X-ray I have ever seen!!

You don't have to worry I will not allow anyone to inject anything into my spine. I don't need to lose my ability to walk!

My doctor ordered X-rays, freaked out after viewing them, sent me to this specialist. Prescribed a different painkiller which I refuse to take because my MS drug is hard on my liver and I am being very conscious of liver-harming drugs.

I would not argue against the depo medrol but again it is a temporary measure; I certainly needed it for several months before my surgery!
I counsel stay far away from Voltaren in particular, NSAIDs in general.
Do You have chronic sinusitis?
MS is certainly caused by molecular mimicry to the germ Acinetobacter calcoaceticus resident in the sinus cavities; Ebringer proved this but never had time to work out any therapies. I was thinking Navage, but that does not take care of enough biofilm, perhaps. Rife might be worth a trial.

I admit surprise while having to deal with this diagnosis. The Diclofenac Sodium pills handle some of my back pain, only thing is they tire me.

I am guessing if that disc showed the corner the others must, too. Last night I went back in my mind and thought of the number of quick appointments to have my red eye looked at and the steroid drops for it.

The Rheumatologist telling me I didn't have AS but he would request a blood draw for HLA B27. Man he had serious attitude, I would have loved to be a fly on his ceiling seeing his face as he reading of my positive test result!

My positive result is now a permanent entry in my health file. There's no getting away from it.

Looked in my bathroom mirror, my left eye is red again. I am leaving for a week, family reunion Sunday afternoon. Have the best weekend ever!
