My butterfly rash does not go over the nose. I have it today just on my cheeks. I have been having it for 45 years and it has never been over my nose. I get it when I am very tired, stressed, in a flare or been in the sun.

Wear sunscreen every day as part of your getting ready for the day.

Rosacea is a thought. One of our daughters had rosacea pretty bad. A dermatologist got it under control. A dermatologist is a good thought. They could identify it.

It was a dermatologist that identified mine, but as much by a process of exclusion as anything (i.e. ruling out lupus). It also helped that I kept photos of the different types of face rash I had.

As far as foods go, alcohol is the biggie, but after that anything with maize in. I have some kind of mild allergy/sensitivity to maize anyway, but things like soda that has corn syrups in will trigger it. Can't think what else right now. Sun is probably the worst though.

Thanks for that reply ! Mine doesn't get "lumpy-bumpy" as someone put it, however my left cheek usually looks redder and feels hotter than the right, I don't know if anyone else has noticed that ?

Not a lot of time so will just answer everyone with this one response.

Thanks for the suggestions, especially of rosacea. At first I thought I knew what that was and didn't think I had it, but upon further inspection, it seems very likely as not only did I (and still to some extent do) have rosy cheeks (not bumps or lumps, just a flush, but probably an early stage as I never noticed anything like this til on prednisone)….but my eyes were really bothering me sunday night through tuesday and the face was very flushed monday and tuesday.

they discussed ocular rosacea which sounded like what I might have been experiencing too.

and it can damage the eyes so nothing to mess with.

I was flaring due to the weather: hot rosy cheeks, burning eyes, wrist tendonitis, elevated blood glucose especially. But weather got better and so did I. Only a little flush left in the left cheek.

I'll need to get on this with my doctors…time to make an appointment with the dermatologist, maybe eye doctor too.

Fortunately, I already have a really mild facial cleansing routine, always have. And I wear neutragena moisture with an SPF of 15, have for about 25 years now.

Uggh! Another thing to deal with…..if it weren't for what it could do to my eyes, if that is what I have, I wouldn't be nearly so concerned.

So either rosacea of the face and the eyes or inflammatory flare leading to dry eyes and red hot face. Need a doctor to discern the two.

And should have taken a photo the other day, need to start documenting.

Good news regarding my doctors.

I called my eye doctor. They said next time I am having issues with my eyes, they can see me for an emergency appointment.

I called my dermatologist. He actually has written into my file "if patient calls with "rash" or psoriasis flare, have her come in that day".

So both doctors will see me the day I flare to catch these things.

Too, photos of cheeks, will be helpful.

My eyes, don't look bad, just hurt, like they are full of pressure and hot and pain.

Good catch by the rheumatologist when he asked me about my "rosy cheeks" and I initially told him it didn't happen so often so we didn't explore it. Next time I'll tell him about it and thank him for asking.

I think some of my eye stuff might well be ocular rosacea too. Its only happened recently, and didn't last long, but I think I will try to get into an urgent eye specialist next time it does.

Just got a lesson from a client in the healing benefits of argan oil. Anyone else try it? I'm going to buy some and give it a whirl. My poor face is so red! The T-tree does help it a bit, but daily ongoing use isn't recommended.

I have tried argan oil and find it actually doesnt work as well as coconut oil ( which has anti-microbial properties ) Argan has worked wonders on my scaly scalp though and the kind I buy ( Moroccan Hair oil ) smell fabulous ( have to get all the little enjoyments possible -:)
I think I have had Rosacea for years without knowing it, but it has worsened this year ( our everlasting winter made it worse ) I am now thinking my eye problems might be ocular rosacea as well, but am still waiting for diagnosis …..
